Caught up with my buddy @ty.sarich for coffee while he was in Calgary, and our conversation stuck with me. We talked life. Content. Careers. Reinvention. And something I’m seeing more and more: 👉 A lot of millennials are changing the entire direction of their lives in their 30s and 40s. Not because they failed. Because they finally started asking: “Is the path I’m on actually the one I want?” For years, the playbook was pretty straightforward: Get the degree. Get the corporate job. Climb the ladder. Make more money. Repeat. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that path. But it’s not the only path anymore. The barrier to building a personal brand, developing valuable skills, finding an audience and making money online has never been lower. You can document what you’re learning. Teach what you know. Build trust publicly. Create opportunities that didn’t exist for you five years ago. And increasingly, I’m meeting people who aren’t chasing a different career because it looks easier. They’re chasing one that looks more like them. Your 30s or 40s aren’t “too late” to change direction. You might actually know yourself well enough now to finally pick the right one. It’s incredibly easy to get lost right now. New platforms. New AI tools. New business models. Someone making $50K/month doing something you’ve never heard of. Another shiny object every time you open your phone. If you don’t have a plan, the internet will happily make one for you. And usually, that plan involves chasing whatever creates the most dopamine today instead of building something that compounds over years. Learn valuable skills. Use AI. Seriously. Ignoring it won’t make it go away. You will get left behind if you don’t adapt here. Like being illiterate rn. Build relationships. Create leverage. Stay focused long enough for your work to actually compound. And stop assuming you need to copy the path everyone else is taking. Fun fact: I took more than 1,500 days off posting on Instagram while I focused on building on platforms that were actually getting me paid. Was that the “correct” creator strategy? Probably not according to the algorithm gurus. It was the correct strategy for me. That’s the point. You don’t need to chase every platform, trend, opportunity or dollar flashing across your screen. You need to know where you’re going. Then become incredibly difficult to distract. The people who win long term probably won’t be the ones who chased the most opportunities. They’ll be the ones who knew which opportunities to ignore. Carve your own path. Build for the long game. Keep going. taken in Calgary, Alberta by @danisdriven

The businesses that dominate the next decade won’t necessarily have the best product… they’ll have the strongest brand. If you’re a brand, business owner, or creator in 2026 and you’re still not investing in content and your personal brand, you’re leaving one of the biggest opportunities of your career on the table. I’ve been saying this for years: attention is the most valuable asset you can own. Not ads. Not business cards. Not hoping customers magically find you. The leaders who win are the ones willing to put themselves out there, share their story, educate their audience, and build trust before they ever ask for the sale. And forget the budget excuse. Can’t afford a production team? No problem. Buy a $50 mic. Use your phone. Find some window light and go. Start with one post a week. Nobody is asking for perfection, they’re asking for consistency. The next generation of great businesses will be built by people who document, teach, entertain, and create real relationships online. Don’t wait for the perfect time.
