With Mental Health Awareness month starting on Friday may 1st I wanted to share my story my name is Daejier brooks I am a student at Jamesville Dewitt high school and I am in foster care I’ve been in foster care since 2020. I didn’t have the best upbringing but I can say my mom did what she could with so little help going into foster care wasn’t easy as my brothers and sisters left me and only my brother with autism was left over the years I’ve struggled with mental health and suicidal issues as a young kid which made it hard for me to coexist with my pears and make friends as of today I would want to say I’m doing better and making myself more known around my pears

SLU 30’ took me a long time to make this decision but here we are I was able to think on what I really wanted to do with my life and I finally found that this choice is mine and mine only and I would like to say I will be changing my commitment from Cornell to st.Lawerence first I want to say ALLAHU ABKAR for keeping me guided to make the best decisions and I want to thank my family friends Ella and my coaches Barlow and Drummond for believing in me and working me hard this is just the start I will get to my goal regardless by @danksvv3
