Let's talk 👄 about it! 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Book Description 📖 Beauty & the Beast meets Criminal Minds in this Murder Mystery Romantic Suspense After an attack on the job, Homicide Detective Isobel ‘Bel’ Emerson takes her dog and moves to the small town of Bajka in search of a less stressful life and career, but the quaint town’s peace is disturbed when a local furniture designer is murdered, his body posed to look like a human chandelier. Thrust back into the fray, Bel must confront her personal demons as she investigates an impossible case, and as bodies turned into household objects start to pile up, all clues point to the reclusive millionaire who just bought the abandoned mansion at the edge of town. Eamon Stone is as dangerous as he is handsome, and Bel can’t shake the feeling that there’s more to his presence in Bajka than meets the eye. Something about him is familiar, and while she knows he’s a threat, she can’t fight his pull. Like a moth to the flame, she’s drawn to the man stalking her, to the only murder suspect they have, and Bel fears he craves her blood as much as she craves his presence. She fears he is the evil hunting this town... the beast hunting her. My thoughts 💭 After all of the mixed reviews I decided to finally read this book. And I was not disappointed. I do love me a LOOSELY twisted Disney tale. I'm looking forward to reading"Bel" other cases and seeing how Stone will be linked too them. And what is Stone hiding from Bel are they destined to be together? 🤔. #bookreccomendations #readingchallenge2026 #book62outof100 #readingcommunity #bookworm by @dannethebookslayer

Let's talk 👄 about it! 🌟🌟🌟 Book Description 📖 In this delicious new collection, you’ll find stories about lurking vampires of social media, rebellious vampires hungry for more than just blood, eager vampires coming out—and going out for their first kill—and other bold, breathtaking, dangerous, dreamy, eerie, iconic, powerful creatures of the night. My thoughts 💭 Of course anthology books are always a hit/miss. The short stories are more for the younger group of readers. However this one was overall meh. #bookdragon #readingchallenge2026 #book61outof100 #bookworm #spookyreads by @dannethebookslayer

It was an okay read. #book60outof100 #booknerd #spookyreads #ReadingChallenge2026 #bookstagram by @dannethebookslayer
Let's talk 👄 about it! 🌟🌟🌟 Book Description 📖 Lynnette Tarkington is a real-life final girl who survived a massacre. For more than a decade, she’s been meeting with five other final girls and their therapist in a support group for those who survived the unthinkable, working to put their lives back together. Then one woman misses a meeting, and their worst fears are realized—someone knows about the group and is determined to rip their lives apart again, piece by piece. But the thing about final girls is that no matter how bad the odds, how dark the night, how sharp the knife, they will never, ever give up. My thoughts 💭 A group of final girls who survives their attackers and then goes to therapy. When they think their trauma is over it starts all over again. Granted none of the girls were likable and it was a slow build up. The story was very entertaining. #booknerd #book59outof100 #readingchallenge2026 #bookworm #bookstagram by @dannethebookslayer
Let's talk 👄 about it! 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Book Description 📖 Be warned, dear reader: The Black girls survive in this one. Celebrating a new generation of bestselling and acclaimed Black writers, The Black Girl Survives in This One makes space for Black girls in horror. Fifteen chilling and thought-provoking stories place Black girls front and center as heroes and survivors who slay monsters, battle spirits, and face down death. Prepare to be terrified and left breathless by the pieces in this anthology. My thoughts 💭 I'm usually "sketchy" about reading short stories combined into one book (I've been let down too many times). But let me tell you! This one was really good surprisingly. I really enjoyed 11 out of the 15 stories so my "majority" rules lol 😆 . And it's a quick read. #readingreccomendations #bookdragon #book58outof100 #readingchallenge2026 #spookyreads by @dannethebookslayer
Let's talk 👄 about it! 🌟🌟🌟 Book Description 📖 Every Mardi Gras season, New Orleans puts on a mask. Some masks are harder to remove. When Alexis Rochon goes undercover inside an elite Mardi Gras social group, she expects secrecy, wealth, and old traditions, but behind the wrought-iron gates of its headquarters, the House of Lazuliè, something is listening. Within its walls, nothing is as it appears, and Alexis begins to understand the truth: the girls aren't being honored. They're being prepared. Now, Alexis must decide what she's willing to sacrifice before the choice is made for her. Because in the House of Lazuliè, every crown has a cost... and not everyone lives to wear it. Enter the House. Join the Krewe. Pray you survive the crowning. My thoughts 💭 Open Plots 🤔 Okay soooo I have too many questions that need some answers. *Why didn't Alexis check in with her grandma when she said our family has always been involved? (Are they special?) *what happened during the "bidding war/girls debut" night? When they blacked out after drinking the wine what happened? *Also before modern days the flashback wasn't Lazulie "out"? If not what happened to not allow her to be in the realm of the living? *Why Alexis? (Her family history maybe?) See too many questions! There was a lot going the extra details versus the girls. Great story idea I just need more context and answers...... #readingchallenge2026 #bookdragon #book57outof100 #bookworm #bookstagram by @dannethebookslayer
Let's talk about it 👀👀👀 Book Description 📖 Deep in the heart of Appalachia stands a crooked farmhouse miles from any road. The Morrows keep to themselves, and it’s served them well so far. When girls go missing off the side of the highway, the cops don’t knock on their door. Which is a good thing, seeing as to what’s buried in the Morrows’ backyard. But nineteen-year-old Michael Morrow isn’t like the rest of his family. He doesn’t take pleasure in the screams that echo through the trees. Michael pines for normalcy, and he’s sure that someday he’ll see the world beyond West Virginia. When he meets Alice, a pretty girl working at a record shop in the small nearby town of Dahlia, he’s immediately smitten. For a moment, he almost forgets about the monster he’s become. But his brother, Rebel, is all too eager to remind Michael of his place. My thoughts 💭 WAIT A MINUTE!!!! What?!!!! This was a very CRAZY read.......... **Reader Beware** #book56outof100 #bibliophile #spookyreads #booknerd #readingchallenge2026 by @dannethebookslayer
Let's talk 👄 about it! 🌟🌟🌟 Book Description 📖 As a young, queer couple who flip houses, Charlie and Eve can’t believe the killer deal they’ve just gotten on an old house in a picturesque neighborhood. As they’re working in the house one day, there’s a knock on the door. A man stands there with his family, claiming to have lived there years before and asking if it would be alright if he showed his kids around. People pleaser to a fault, Eve lets them in. As soon as the strangers enter their home, inexplicable things start happening, including the family’s youngest child going missing and a ghostly presence materializing in the basement. Even more weird, the family can’t seem to take the hint that their visit should be over. And when Charlie suddenly vanishes, Eve slowly loses her grip on reality. Something is terribly wrong with the house and with the visiting family—or is Eve just imagining things? My thoughts 💭 Ummmm....WHAT? so many loopholes in this story that gave no answers. Read at your own risk. #bookstagram #readingchallenge2026 #book55outof100 #whatdidijustread #bookdragon by @dannethebookslayer
Let's talk 👄 about it!! 🎈 🎈🎈🎈 Book Description 📖 Welcome to Derry, Maine. It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real. They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made twenty-eight years ago calls them reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children. Now, children are being murdered again and their repressed memories of that terrifying summer return as they prepare to once again battle the monster lurking in Derry’s sewers. My thoughts 💭 HOLD ON So not only was IT "getting" kids left and right but also a turtle was involved 🤔🥴😵‍💫. And the parents were aware but it was not talked about...... WHAT!! And towards the ending the cave part and the kids (IFYKYK). This was a very WILD and LONG-WINDED read (some parts could have been left out). I've watched the old movie, the newer movies, and the TV show. The way this man writes is out of this world. #book54outof100 #spookyreads #bookcommuntiy #readingchallenge2026 #booknerd by @dannethebookslayer
Let's talk 👄 about it! 🌟🌟🌟.5 Book Description 📖 Pay close attention and you might solve this. On Monday afternoon, five students at Bayview High walk into detention. Bronwyn, the brain, is Yale-bound and never breaks a rule. Addy, the beauty, is the picture-perfect homecoming princess. Nate, the criminal, is already on probation for dealing. Cooper, the athlete, is the all-star baseball pitcher. And Simon, the outcast, is the creator of Bayview High’s notorious gossip app. Only, Simon never makes it out of that classroom. Before the end of detention Simon's dead. And according to investigators, his death wasn’t an accident. On Monday, he died. But on Tuesday, he’d planned to post juicy reveals about all four of his high-profile classmates, which makes all four of them suspects in his murder. Or are they the perfect patsies for a killer who’s still on the loose? Everyone has secrets, right? What really matters is how far you would go to protect them. My thoughts 💭 This was a case of "whodunit". I kind of wanted to get a true ending but it was alright. I enjoyed it for what it was and I'm even intrigued enough to maybe wanting to read the other books. #bookstagram #bibliophile #readingchallenge2026 #book53outof100 #bookcommuntiy by @dannethebookslayer
