Art vs Artist!

I figured since ive gained a lot of followers this past year that I should reintroduce myself. My name is Danni and I'm a comic artist!

Last year i made the decision to quit my full time job to pursue art full time and its been an insane year and Im thankful to everyone who has supported me! My degree is actually in astrophysics and classical studies (a combo i lovingly call the stargate degree) but ive always wanted to create and comics have been so near and dear to my heart that i finally felt confident enough to take the plunge!

i have some cool projects coming up that i cant wait to share with you all!! thank you for all the support! by @dannis.comics

"Let me introduce myself. My name is Illyana Rasputin. And I was forged in the fires of a hell far worse than here. But to you monsters--you may call me Magik!"

Magik is one of my absolute favourite mutants and characters in general!

✨ Meet local comic artist Danni McGowan, our next CIBC Run for the Cure Marketplace vendor!

Danni’s work lives at the intersection of fantastical and emotional storytelling, using art to tell meaningful stories that connect with people. As she continues to grow as an artist, her goal is to create work that leaves an impact and means something to those who experience it.

The CIBC Run for the Cure also holds a deeply personal meaning for Danni, as members of her close family have been affected by breast cancer. To her, this event represents hope, joy, community, and the possibility of a future where no one has to hear the words, “You have cancer.”

We’re so excited to welcome Danni to the Marketplace and have her join us in supporting this important cause. 💗

Come visit her booth at the CIBC Run for the Cure Calgary and discover her artwork while supporting a community united for a future without breast cancer.

Sometimes you just have to draw/sketch an angel after a stressful week! This was a relatively quick sketch but i had so much fun even if the wings gave me a bit of bother 😂 Angewomon was always my favourite!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and ill make a proper announcement in a bit but I'm vending with CIBC Run for the Cure at their marketplace on October 4th and developed this sticker/art for the event! I will be at @runforthecure_calgary on October 4th, 2026 selling these stickers as well as my other work to help fundraise money for Breast Cancer research and advocacy!

Unfortunately, like many my family has been heavily impacted by cancer and specifically breast cancer. I'm lucky enough to have an amazing sister @kirstmcg_ who is run director for this amazing event that raised over $1M last year and she inspires me every day to do more and do better.

I hope one day we can live in a reality where no one ever has to worry about cancer again, but until then let's fight and work hard.

If you're not in Calgary but would like one of these stickers shoot me a message!
