I moved to long beach over a year ago; did you know that when you do the things you want to do instead of the things you feel obligated you will be happier and more motivated?? Anyways, happy pride; I love all my friends and I’m choosing to live a life I love by @danny_storll

Almost 10 years ago I started making coffee professionally. A few years later, I had the opportunity to work at one of my favorite coffee shops and, after two years, I was fired along with almost all of my coworkers for attempting to unionize.

In spite of it all, we preserved. A little less than two years later Slow Bloom Coffee Cooperative opened its doors. We decided that if our bosses wouldn’t give us our jobs back, we would just make our own.

Two years later still Slow Bloom is one of the most successful independent coffee shops in its area, with more growth on its horizon. My coworkers and our community inspire me more than I am able to articulate. It’s in this space, that I am moving on.

Years of working customer facing jobs can quickly deteriorate you and I’ve found incredible peace in learning how to fix broken equipment. In 2018 I started learning how to fix espresso machines and I now have the opportunity to do so full time. It’s a bit of a dream come true, so while I am sad to leave, I’m genuinely excited for the road ahead taken in Slow Bloom Coffee Co-Op by @danny_storll

I did my first ever strong man competition yesterday and got third in the novice heavyweights.

I feel so incredibly grateful to @gregthenobleman aka @noblexstrong for encouraging to do it and basically coaching me the entire way. Also thank you to everyone who came out to support. I love you all

1. 150lbs axel bar overhead press for reps in 60 seconds 🥈
2. 200lbs sandbag carry into a 380 sled pull for time 🥉
3. 200lbs farmer carries in each hand for time 🥈
4. Car deadlift 🥉

Another year, another post about having a sister that is great.

Thank you for showing me good movies and music, for introducing me to the food network and thrift stores, for being funnier than me and motivating me to create art.

So much of how I’ve grown to understand the world has been based out of dialogue with you. Thank you for providing space, context, and ground over all these years. You’re the best sibling anyone could ever ask for and I’m so lucky we were forced to be friends by @danny_storll

I started taking guitar lessons recently, because I wanted to keep up with my nephew Syrus who is truly one one of my biggest musical inspirations. Every holiday or family get together is bookended by playing music and this is one of my favorite times I’ve had with him by @danny_storll

Went to the desert, wrote on some lanterns, got genuinely unexpectedly enraptured by the experience, cried a bit, felt so very lucky to have people to it share with, and listened to Peter Gabriel on the drive home by @danny_storll

You would have been 31 today.

I’m drinking whiskey, because it reminds me of you.

You were so young, how do I know if you even liked whiskey?

You drank what you could get your hands on then.

You were only seventeen years old when you signed up, thinking it was your last resort.

Let’s be clear, it wasn’t, but no one was going to tell you otherwise.

They prayed you would “find your way” and you prayed to make them proud.

You were the scariest person I knew.

Even you were preyed upon.
