I’m not normally one to make posts about politics, but after hearing about Proposal 1 that will appear on the ballot this November in Michigan and reading the wording of it, I did some investigating, and I wanted to bring some clarity to the proposal.

Proposal 1 will ask Michigan voters whether to convene a Constitutional Convention in 2027 to draft a general revision of the Michigan Constitution.

If approved, 148 delegates would be elected: one from each of Michigan’s 110 State House districts and 38 State Senate districts, to consider revisions to our state’s governing document. Any proposed constitution or amendments adopted by the convention would then be presented to voters for approval or rejection.

My concern is that such a broad revision could involve many different issues being presented to voters together, rather than allowing us to vote separately on each individual change. I believe it’s important to consider how this process could affect our ability to make informed decisions about each part of our state constitution.

For these reasons, I ask you to research Proposal 1 and consider voting NO this November.

#LapeerGradGreatness

Daniel Stanley was part of the last graduating class at Lapeer East High School, graduating in 2014.

These days, he works as the rental car manager at Jim Riehl’s Friendly CDJR of Lapeer, in addition to being an active member of Gateway Assembly in Imlay City.

Looking back, Stanley says his time at Lapeer Community Schools, which also included time at Cramton, Turrill and Zemmer, taught him many life lessons that he still uses today.

3 Months ago today was the hardest day of my life. 3 months ago today, I got a phone call that I was not expecting and my life changed forever. Mom, I’ve missed you everyday since that day, so many things I’ve wanted to tell you, experiences that I’ve wanted to share. I’m so thankful for the many years we got to share, but my heart aches for the years we won’t get to share. You always knew the right thing to say, even it was me saying “Oh Mama-Llama” and you responding “Oh Danny Boy”. I’m trying my best to continue to make you proud every day. One Year Down!
August 19th 2025 is the day that I began my health journey. After a hospital trip, and some tough conversations, i decided it was time to make a change. When you ask ChatGPT your life expectancy if you make no changes , and it says your late 50’s it is a wake-up call. It has not been an easy road, but it’s been one well worth it. I’ve had my ups and downs, good weeks and bad, but all to God be the glory! 395 -> 305 Big thank to my family and my friends for all the support throughout this journey. On my trip to Mackinaw at the end of June, my best friend @francismiller20 who went with me, took his camera with him. When we stopped at the bridge, he took some pictures of me. Today he found the adapter he was looking for, and was able to send some to me! I love them all, but the last one might be my favorite! When we have the opportunity to Serve God’s church, we serve God! This week I had the pleasure to attend my 6th Collision, my 1st as a Chaperone with @waoyouth, this years theme We Will Die For This, because we are called to serve God, even up unto our very life!
