‘There is a crack is everything - that’s how the light gets in, and I think I wanted the light to let in’ - @rosalia.vt

Counting down to my 40th year, I’ve felt increasingly emotional and my initial thought process was that I was slipping back into old, bad habits with my mental health. However, the emotions felt very different this time, never overwhelming or debilitating.

Then I came across an emotion, for which we don’t have a word or phrase for in the English language, that completely described the feel - ‘mono no aware (Japanese)’. It describes the gentle, wistful melancholy you feel when realising that nothing lasts forever, paired with a deep, peaceful appreciation for the beauty of that fleeting moment.

My mind and body is so used to punishing itself over the past, or being anxious about the future that it couldn’t quite recognised it’d started to appreciate the beautiful in moments in the present.

I think that’s progress. by @dannyjdh

‘There are no perfect mirrors in nature - so I don’t think we were meant to see ourselves this much. We were meant to see the other more than we see ourselves’ - @rosalia.vt by @dannyjdh
