🪄 31st October 1926 – 2026 | 100 Years Since Houdini

A century after his death, the name Harry Houdini remains legendary. Widely regarded as one of the greatest magicians and escape artists of all time, Houdini revolutionised the art of magic with his extraordinary escapes, daring stunts and remarkable showmanship. He captivated audiences around the world, challenged the impossible and helped transform magic into a global sensation.

One hundred years on, his name is still synonymous with mystery, wonder and the impossible. A true legend of magic, never to be forgotten. 🎩✨

Some of you may have been aware, I spent a few days last week in Biberach, Germany's town twinned with Clacton on Sea. I was flown over especially to perform my one man '24K Magic' show as part of 'English Weeks' - a special programme of activities celebrating English and Clacton culture that takes place just once every eight years.

The venue itself was truly remarkable. Built in 1432, the Komödienhaus has a fascinating place in theatrical history, having hosted the German premiere of Shakespeare’s The Tempest (Der Sturm) in 1761 — recognised as the first recorded performance of a Shakespeare play in the German-speaking world.

It was a real honour to represent Clacton-on-Sea on an international stage and bring a little magic to Biberach. I was blown away by the response from the local audience, and at the end of the performance, returned for three curtain calls! Experiences like this prove just how powerful live entertainment, and especially magic, can be in bringing people and cultures together. ✨

A huge thank you to everyone in Biberach who made me feel so welcome, special mention to Christa and Steffen for your wonderful hospitality. I’ll always remember this wonderful experience! 🇩🇪❤️🇬🇧

Al Koran - a magical person whose performances inspired and uplifted those in attendance. His book 'Bring out the Magic in your Mind' will always be a favourite of mine.
