Another material investigation for VIVID design exhibition, this time teaming up with @morgandotydesign. We explored her recycled paper process and found ways to optimize the process for larger scale production and customization.

Paper Thin is an interior wall covering system. Porous natural fibres gained from revitalising waste paper are pressed into sheets and CNC milled into wall tiles to aid in acoustic absorption. Formally adaptive, colour adjustable and conservative in its production; Paper Thin serves as a biodegradable alternative to interior wall finishes

RECYCLE.DENIM. -

Denim; a timeless material drapes our culture in indigo. Condemned by obsolescence cycles of fashion; a ubiquitous resident in our growing wasteland, polluting city scapes, falling second to oil. Newly bought clothes will take up fifteen percent of wardrobes while eighty five percent ends in landfills. ‘Cheap’ denim jeans, now, rival the prices of a takeaway lunch in the city, rousing Australians to gorge on a pair of denim jeans at least once in a four week period.
Once a virgin-material, dyed blue, its fibres withstand years of style changes, now lays forever dormant in our wasteland. Can the deconstruction of the manufactured denim jean re-purpose its material performance and return it back to its natural state to construct new usability?
Revitalizing waste denim jeans; pulverised and soaked in a biodegradable glue mix, cures and intertwines the tensegrity of denim fibres. While fashion is transient, denim pulp redefines its trajectory and its application within our lifestyle; a low-lounge chair molded to rejuvenatthe function and form of our jeans.
