When you look at Einstein’s Theory of Relativity and the mass-energy relationship, you see that there is not nearly enough ordinary mass in our universe to account for the energy needed to create the universe we observe. The consequence is that there is other energy or mater out there that we can’t see, touch, or feel. If you put together everything we can detect—all the stars, the planets, the gas, the dust, the bellybuttons… everything—it accounts for only about 5% of the total necessary to create our universe home. By some estimates, at least five times more “dark matter” is required to provide the binding forces necessart to hold the galaxies and clusters together. We measure observe and measure the effects, but we still can’t see it, shine a light on it, or detect it directly. Yet, without it, none of this structure would exist—and neither would we.
If mathematics and physics is the key to unlocking all that is unknown, then what about emotion, creativity, or spontenity? What are the mathematical equations or relations which should also allow for their predictions? There is so much we have learned, yet so much more that we still do not know. by @dannyolivasofficial

On this day, 37 years ago, I married the love of my life, my best friend, and would-be-mother to 5 wonderful children. We grew up 6 blocks from each other in El Paso, but our paths never crossed until college. Three months after graduation in ‘89, we moved into the first of seven places we would call home. Texas to California, back to Texas then finally back to Cali. Happy anniversary, Marie. Looking forward to spending the rest of my years, by your side. by @dannyolivasofficial

With around a day and a half until they reached the Moon, the Apollo 11 spacecraft was on track to swing around about 175 miles above the surface. The mission required them to be much closer. A short, three-second correction burn put them back on course. Making that tiny adjustment while they still had a long way to go shifted the speed and gradually steered the whole trajectory. By the time they reached the Moon they were exactly where they needed to be. Course corrections made early prevent the need for drastic measures later. That’s the spirit behind Astronauts For America. We live in the greatest country in the world. We owe it to ourselves and those who will come after us to remain committed to the principles of the Constitution. by @dannyolivasofficial

This past week was the anniversary of the Space Shuttle program’s final flight in 2011. What was supposed to be a ‘yawning gap’ in American spaceflight transportation turned into almost a decade where America was unable to transport astronauts to space. I remember watching Atlantis climb into the sky for her final mission and feeling grateful that I was able to fly on those incredible machines. To every astronaut, engineer, technician, and supporter who poured their hearts into the Shuttle program: thank you. You made history with every launch! by @dannyolivasofficial
