$2k / month -> $20k / month: Here’s what I changed.

To make this jump in my career, I had to take action beyond school. I had to find ways to acquire skills that industry expected but classes didn’t teach. To accomplish this I had to build systems to create opportunities for myself and become more intentional with my time to make sure that all of my commitments can still fit in a day.

Because as a full time student who is also looking for a job, you have a lot to manage from classes to friendships to work that will help you grow in your career. So you need to find ways to optimize your time and become more efficient.

Comment or DM me “Intern” if you’re looking for guidance in your next steps of the internship search and want to learn about my systems. by @dannys20s

I’m 22 years old right now about to graduate college, and I’m not afraid to admit that I made a lot of mistakes and am still very lost in many aspects of my life.

However, I can confidently say that I continue to introspect and grow every day. I’m proud of myself for the person I have become in that past 4 years of university and will continue to reach towards becoming the person that younger me can look up to.

I’m sharing the learnings of my journey so follow for more! by @dannys20s

One of the best ways to break into tech and land a Software Engineer Internship is by building projects with numbers and impact.

As a student, one of the easiest ways to accomplish this is by building something your campus needs as you can easily discover problems, solve them, and distribute your solution.

If you’re looking for something to build over the summer try building out a similar project as these for your own school.

Save this for project inspiration and DM this post to someone you want to build with!

All project ideas are inspired by @ucd.aggieworks - definitely check them out!

JavaScript Package Managers but it gets increasingly more niche!

My personal favorite is pnpm.

What package manager do you use as a Software Engineer or Computer Science student?

Let me know any that I missed!

Last year I had asked the youngest self-made billionaire for a Software Engineering job…

And I got a response, but I had doubted myself before even sending the message.

Coming from a non-target school I didn’t believe I could be considered for such an opportunity. However, I sent it anyway, and to my surprise he responded!

This taught me a valuable lesson about initiative and taking chances on things that might seem impossible.

Trying to grow your career is about increasing your surface area for luck across all avenues, so try everything!

Send in that application, write up the email, walk up to the one person in the room that could get you a job.

Follow me for more about my journey and advice on breaking into tech!
