I’ve always believed that the real strength of a broadcaster isn’t just in their voice, but in their vulnerability.

Radio Room Therapy was born from that belief.

It was beautiful to see broadcasters and podcasters open up about the unspoken pressures of the job, the burnout, the low pay, the creative fatigue, and the emotional masks.

We didn’t just talk; we connected, reflected, and healed together. 💜

As the plane descended into Nigeria, I couldn’t help but reflect on the whirlwind of experiences I had just been part of in Nairobi.

The training on Managing Conflict in the Newsroom was nothing short of transformative, equipping me with new perspectives on leadership, emotional intelligence, and the critical role of digital transformation in today’s media landscape.

I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the incredible team at the Aga Khan University Graduate School of Media and Communications and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Media Programme for Sub-Saharan Africa.

Your organization of this training was seamless, and the carefully curated sessions were both insightful and deeply impactful. The dedication and expertise of the facilitators made every moment a learning opportunity that I will carry with me into my career.

To my fellow participants, it was a privilege to learn alongside such a diverse and talented group of media professionals. The discussions we shared, the challenges we explored, and the solutions we discovered together were invaluable.

I believe we all left Nairobi not just better equipped to manage conflicts within our newsrooms but also with a deeper understanding of the broader media environment across the continent.

Now back in Nigeria, I am eager to put these newfound skills into practice and to continue fostering a collaborative and forward-thinking approach within my organization.

I look forward to staying connected with the wonderful individuals I met and applying everything I’ve learned to create meaningful change in our media space.

This nomination is a reflection of a journey built on passion, purpose, and an unshakable belief in the power of radio.

From my early days learning the ropes of broadcasting, to creating The Radio Room, a space for presenters and podcasters to learn, share, and connect, and co-hosting Blast Rise on Blast FM, every experience has been part of something bigger than me.

I’ve seen firsthand how a single story, a single show, or a single conversation can inspire change. That’s why this recognition means so much, it celebrates not just the work I do, but the community that continues to believe in what radio can be.

To every listener, mentor, colleague, and friend, thank you for being part of my story.
We’re just getting started.

Daniel Adaaja is a Nigerian broadcast journalist, media personality, audio storyteller, podcast producer, content strategist and media trainer with over a decade of experience in radio and digital media. He is currently the Breakfast Show Host at Blast Urban FM 98.3, where he engages audiences through conversations, interviews, current affairs, entertainment and social issues.

Beyond broadcasting, Daniel is passionate about developing the next generation of media professionals. He is the founder of Radio Room, a platform focused on empowering broadcasters, podcasters and emerging media professionals through training, mentorship and industry conversations. He also leads RADPOD, a media and audio production initiative focused on audio excellence, content development and training.
