That’s So New York
2 1/4 oz rye
1/2 oz sweet vermouth
1/2 oz dry vermouth
1/4 oz amaro Nonino
1/4 oz all-spice dram

Seeing Paul Simon at his hometown — home *neighborhood* — venue was something else. At 84, he doesn’t sound like he used to and he opened with a 33-minute song cycle that I think most of us could’ve done without. But the first time he played here was in *1966* so he’s earned the right to do whatever he wants. And the rest of the show was a delightful, sweet singalong. By “America” I was happily weeping. He’s been so important to me: Graceland was the first album I really fell in love with, and I soon after discovered both the early stuff and the ‘70s stuff. Here’s to you, Paul Simon.
