@nao ‘s new album Autumn is out today. It’s part of “A Soulful Suite”, a new album for every season/different part of Nao’s musical make up. Autumn is the jazz/alternate project.

Nao, myself, @dave_okumu_ @femitone & @charlieplatt_nel wrote this over two days in Nao’s front room! I think it was the beautiful chicken she cooked us that powered us to create this music together 😆

Unfortunately Femi wasn’t around for the three recording dates so we enlisted the beastly @benjonesmusik . We tracked it all live, no click, with @adeeguncrispin adding to the spice.

@harvey_dweller @nubya_garcia & @iamrozemusic added vibes afterwards.

Recorded at Fish Factory and engineered by the brilliant @crookszkeyz

Produced by Nao and Dave Okumu. Assisted by @harry.wav Mixed by @nathanboddy

One last one with @jonomccleery @mikelesirge @daniele_gulinobass & @steve_pringle

Over share, don’t care! The best when it’s easy playing with people and you don’t have to think.

The best of times with my buddies last night. I never practise soloing. Pulling out stuff from 20 years ago when I used to practise this stuff.

Love these guys: @jonomccleery @daniele_gulinobass @steve_pringle @mikelesirge

Blue Morpho by @eobofficial is out today on @transgressivehq !

We spent a few days recording this in November 2023 at Church Studios. I remember it was sandwiched in between our London Brew gig at the Barbican and a tour I was doing straight afterwards. We had the best time recording together, being free to try stuff out and drinking some of Ed’s special tea.

I feel so lucky to have worked with Ed,
Paul and Riley. Ed’s a gentleman with a big heart, which you can hear on this record.

Big up the team!

Produced by @paulepworth & @riley_mac

In 2020 in got a phone call from @eobofficial to discuss having a chat with him on his instagram live to promote my last album Voyager. We’d met a couple of times thru friends socially but within 5 minutes of talking both of us realised we were meditators, and resonated on a very similar level together.
It was the start of a brotherhood neither of us would know how much we needed.
After a session to mess around with a @circleinstruments together, Ed asked if we could make music together. I was honoured to be asked.

We began long drives to wales with co producer @riley_mac in the changing seasons, around open fires, thru life, death, diverse, cold swimming, cooking and contemplation.
The feeling and honesty that went into Blue Morpho, and the music-as-life-as-music process was scary and unlike any other experience I’ve had. It was like a workshop for self belief and spiritual connection… all recorded at 432hz.
We finished recoding at Church Studios with Dave, Crispin, Yves, Dan, Nick and Eska capturing everything we imagined along the way with some of the greatest players I’ve been lucky enough to work with.

Ed read an invocation every day. We would sit recording birdsong. We met golden teachers.

My life thru the record is very much reflected in the title..that of transformation. Only today now it’s out in the world can i see how much it was a mirror to not only Ed’s experiences but my own too. We helped each other along the path.

Want to say a huge thank you to Riley, to @dave_okumu_ , @dansee28 @eskaonline @nrammmusic @yvesfernandez , to Tõnu Kõrvitsand for his incredible strings, Flood for helping us over the line and @benbaptie for the mix , not to mention @transgressivehq for being the perfect home for it.

Most of all I’d like to show my gratitude to Ed who has been my big brother thru the toughest of times, and to honour the bravery he showed to really go to the thin places, to dig deep and reveal his truth in music.

Should be an inspiration to us all.
Love to you all
