A couple of days in the Lakes to reflect on ten years since you left us.

We’ve had a few wobbles along the way but we’re doing well. Dad’s still got the shop. He volunteers at The Christie every Wednesday and never stops talking about you. Hannah finished school, and college, and graduated from Cambridge. I know you’d be so proud. She’s a teacher now just like you which is pretty cool.

So is Emma. You’d love her. We’ve been together nearly nine years now. The best thing to ever happen to me. Her mum and dad have been with us in the Lakes too – they’ve taken us in like family. We’ve added Barnaby to the mix too. You were never big on dogs but he’s impossible not to love. He would definitely have made you have one of your famous coughing fits but it’d be worth it for a cuddle and all the attention.

We all still go to cricket every Saturday. Burnley are back in the Prem. Lancs keep finding ways not to win anything. I reckon you’d love Bazball.

I graduated with a degree in sports journalism and have spent the last four years covering cricket for Wisden. I interviewed Wasim Akram in the US last week and I’m off to Melbourne for the Boxing Day Ashes Test this winter.

Anyway, I could go on for ages. So much has happened in the last ten years, and there’s so much that has changed, but we still miss you so much. I’d give it all up for one more day. I love you, Mum ❤️ by @dansenior97
