ASICS Gold Coast Marathon 2025

Last Sunday, I finished my first marathon in 4:42:51.

The goal was sub-4:30 — I felt confident, but made a rookie mistake after first half by pushing too hard and leaving the 4:30 pacer behind. Paid the price at 33 km when my legs barely moved.

At one point, I thought I'd finish over 5 hours. But then I remembered all those 4:30 AM alarms and 6 months of training. I didn’t come all the way to Queensland for a fun run — I trained, recovered, fueled, and showed up — day after day, week after week, month after month — all to give my best and finish strong.

So I kept running, slowly. Fought through the doubt, pushed again at 40 km, and crossed the finish line. It’s done! Sub-4:45 — LOL.

I’m happy with the result, but I want to get better. This won’t be my last marathon — just not anytime soon!

Despite the race or the result, the marathon preparation taught me so much more than just running. They taught me discipline (always show up when you don't want to), consistency, self-control, how to push myself out of my comfort zone — and to never ever give up. Truly an experience that humbled me.

Big thanks to Coach @myudasazhari, who believed in me more than I believed in myself. Most of our conversations were just me saying I wasn’t sure I could finish the program — but he was always sure I could. And surprisingly, I did 🤣.

To Mas @wardana_heru, who taught me so much about running — even the very basics.

To @tantrum.runners, who inspired me throughout this journey — soliiiddd!

To @wiradityaarga, @suryaadityaardana, and @krismanps, thank you for the motivation — and also for the jokes, banter, and sarcasm that made it all lighter. OKC, KFC, UFC, Lakers in 🖐️

And shoutout to the MVPs of race day: my family — my sister @angelasiagian & lae @yosafatsinaga who's been so busy before & the entire race day, and also to mbak @priethaphe!

And kudos for @gcmarathon who made my first marathon experience so Memorable! 🇦🇺

First time Half Marathon Race.

Did a mistake by chit chating for too long with a friend and still warming up right after flag off for Full Marathon Race, and when I want to go to the start line, I got positioned in the back because there were LOTS of people ready in start line for Half Marathon Race. Took me more than 2 minutes just to pass the start line after the flag off. It's almost impossible to run in the first Km, but after that I found the rythm, still manage to finish and achieve the personal target tho.

What an unforgettable experience!
Beautiful view of Bandung, the weather, euphoria, the atmosphere, the support from local people cheering from the side road, and the running communities cheering before the finish line, it definitely was a mood booster to keep going and finish strong!

Congrats @pocarisportid for a very successful event! No wonder they’re celebrating it’s 10th year anniversary. They managed it very well! One of the best running event!
