THE FACE BEHIND THE NAME 👋

I’m Danny, and I’m the man behind Dan the Sprayed Concrete Man — and the owner of Apex Sprayed Concrete.

I actually started out in the family business straight from school at 16, spraying concrete and building swimming pools. If I’m honest, I wasn’t exactly built for the building site… and I certainly wasn’t passionate about it! But I was interested in earning money and, even more so, pursuing my real passion - Muay Thai.

I first started training when I was around 7 but it wasn’t until my late teens I started taking it seriously. At 21, I moved to Thailand to train and chase the dream of becoming a world champion. Throughout my 20s, I spent my time balancing work in the family business with training and travelling between the UK and Thailand, before eventually leaving the business altogether to pursue Muay Thai full-time.

At age 27 I reached my goal of becoming a World Champion 🏆 what next?

I have a real passion for house music and I decided to learn how to DJ, and, like everything else I’ve really put my mind to, I threw myself into it. I ended up DJing at Ministry of Sound in London and things were looking exciting…then came covid 💀

I had to decide what came next, so I returned to what I knew — sprayed concrete.

By then, I’d spent more than a decade learning the trade. I’d started operating the concrete pump at 16, moved onto the nozzle a couple of years later and was leading spray teams on projects in my early 20s. Along the way, I’d also had the opportunity to work on some pretty cool projects, including work connected to the London 2012 Olympic Games, Network Rail projects and high-end hotels and commercial leisure facilities.

At 31, after having my first child, I decided it was time to step away from the family business and build something of my own.

That’s when Apex Sprayed Concrete was born.

Being someone that doesn’t do things by halves as you can tell. If i decide i want to do something I’ll put the work in and see how far I can take it.

That’s exactly the mindset I have with Apex, and this is only the beginning 💪🏻 by @danthesprayedconcreteman

David Lloyd Hydrotherapy pool shell completed ✅
Lichfield 📍

This one was a fun build with its tricky design but we enjoy doing something a bit different. This will be a half indoor half outdoor pool with stainless steel airbeds and seats etc to be added.

Projects in Central London and Kent to complete and then it’s onto Manchester where we will be starting the install of the same hydro pool for another David Lloyd 🛻

Sometimes You Just Need a Different Perspective 👀

When you are shaping a skate park, every line matters. 🔍✅
Sometimes the easiest way to check the work is to change your perspective completely, even if that means sighting everything through a timber beam.
Apex working alongside @schofieldconstruction to get every detail right. 💪🏻🔥

This Is How Concrete Becomes a Skate Park!

It starts rough, but every section is sprayed, shaped and finished until the curves and transitions begin to flow. 🏗️🚧
The Apex team are forming every curve, bank and transition by hand as the Southampton skate park continues to take shape.
Great to be working with @schofieldconstruction on this one. 🤝🔥

Specialist Concrete Work!

For a skate park, the surface needs to perform as well as it looks. 🛹✅
The real skill is shaping every transition and finishing the surface correctly.
Careful spraying and finishing throughout this project alongside @schofieldconstruction 💪🏻🔥

Inside a Skate Park Construction Site!

A lot of work goes into making these surfaces look simple. 🛠️🚧
Every radius, slope and transition has to be shaped carefully so the different sections flow properly when the park is finished.
Great teamwork between Apex Sprayed Concrete and @schofieldconstruction 💪🏻🔥

Why sprayed concrete wins. 💥

A recent project in London working on a high-end residential basement and spraying against contiguous piled walls.

A great example of where sprayed concrete can offer a practical and efficient solution, particularly in areas where access and site conditions can make traditional concrete methods more challenging.

Its versatility makes it suitable for a wide range of construction, structural and civil engineering applications.

Another one delivered by the team. 👊

How We Build a Concrete Skate Park!

This is exactly the kind of project where sprayed concrete shows its versatility. 🏗️🚧
Complex shapes, continuous surfaces and plenty of precision, make this a very different sprayed concrete project.
Great teamwork between Apex Sprayed Concrete and @schofieldconstruction 🤝🔥

It’s All in the Finish!

More progress from the Southampton skate park as the sprayed concrete starts turning the design into something you can actually see.
Levelling out the sprayed concrete and getting every section smooth is one of those jobs that’s seriously satisfying to watch!

Building a Skate Park From the Ground Up!

The Southampton skate park is taking shape one section at a time. 🚧⏳
Sprayed concrete gives us the control to form the banks, curves and transitions that bring the whole design together.
Another stage of the build progressing alongside @schofieldconstruction 🔥💪🏻

Every Curve Counts!

A lot of work goes into making these surfaces look simple. 🛠️💪🏻
A skate park needs continuous surfaces that feel natural from one section to the next.
