Sometimes the freedom you want comes with a price. An artist always sacrifices something in return for expressing himself.

This piece grew from experimentation with glaze and firing, where marks and traces from earlier firings were reused rather than discarded. Old remnants became the starting point for new work, allowing past processes to shape the final surface.

The process of transposing the photo using the photopolymer technique ultimately takes on a three-dimensional form. This process itself disregards certain elements that we cannot control, yet it still embraces this aspect of creating a work. taken in University for the Creative Arts - UCA by @dany_babu

🔥 KILN OPENING DAY 🔥
The magic moment we’ve all been waiting for - gas kiln reveal at @ucafarnham! Nothing beats that feeling of opening the kiln and seeing how the flames have transformed our work over the past few days.
So thrilled with how these pieces turned out - the depth of those glazes and the beautiful flame effects you can only get from gas firing. Swipe to see the kiln packed to the brim and some of the stunning results.
Huge love to my studio mate @dany_babu for sharing this firing and creating such beautiful work alongside mine. The collaborative energy in our MA program continues to inspire me every day.
The unpredictability of gas firing is exactly why I’m drawn to it - you put your trust in fire, chemistry, and a little bit of magic. These pieces represent months of experimentation, and I couldn’t be happier with the results.
