this was my world cup final ❤️ you know it’s love when… …this squad really made me root for all of them (when i thought id only be rooting for a few of em iykyk)…i came back from the heartbreaking mexico loss to root for england again (and not just against argentina😅)…and when id sworn them off due to the nature of some of their racist troll fans …i’m crying in the club at the third place finish 🥹the streets will remember the true world champions 😭love you to bits declan rice, bukayo saka, and i can finally say, jude bellingham well played to france too, mbappe especially, thanks for reminding us why we’re all crazy for this sport it’s not goodbye, but see you soon 🥹 #worldcup #worldcup2026 #mbappe #arsenal #goldenboot by @danyadib

the more you learn about statistics, the more you realize there are no coincidences —in very large samples, the law of large numbers tells us an unusual occurrence is bound to happen. but in small samples, like a world cup tournament where each team plays 5-10 matches, different rules apply. humans are actually terrible at discerning what is random, and what is not. you can toss a coin 7 times and it turns up heads 4 times, would you say it’s a rigged coin? tosses are supposed to be 50-50 right?i suppose that depends on what you think about the hand turning it. british statistician Denis Lindley once famously said: “An anomaly in a small sample is a whisper; in a large sample, it is a shout. But if the system is designed to produce whispers, we must look at the rules of the system, not just the data.”so yes you’ll get the data: -argentina have played 4/7 games at night (compared to tournament average of 1.28/7)-argentina receive 19 fouls per card (compared to the tournament average of 10 fouls per card) individually it may not be conclusive. but then when you hear about how the argentine federation might be sending $30 million of their $400 million earnings to FIFA… and you zoom out and look at the history of the world cup…then you may have a shout.i guess that’s the ugly side of the beautiful game#worldcup #worldcup2026 #statistics #footballmemes by @danyadib
