Behind the scenes of our first homeware collection, in collaboration with London-based ceramicist Amy L Zhu.

Amy shapes, trims, glazes, and fires every piece by hand. The warm umber surface and the subtle variations from piece to piece are part of what makes it.

Designed with Dao Dock drip coffee in mind, the height gives the coffee room to brew directly into the cup. It works just as naturally for a morning alone as it does around a table, where coffee can be poured and shared between friends and family.

When Amy started making ceramics, we watched her practice grow from the side. This tumbler is the first piece we have brought to Dao Dock, and sharing it through our platform feels like the right way to introduce her work to more people.

Our homeware is built around objects designed for the daily ritual of making and drinking coffee. Amy’s tumbler works perfectly for a drip bag. The height and weight make brewing easy, and the steady feel makes the whole experience worth slowing down for.

Summer calls for something cold.

Fill your cup with 80 to 100 grams of ice, hook your drip bag over the rim, and brew with hot water around 100ml at 90 to 95 degrees. The hot water extracts the full flavour first, then the ice chills it on contact.

The method does not change. Just the temperature and a little bit of ice.

Cauca, Colombia. Our third and final coffee for June.

This coffee comes from a farm in Colombia that divided itself into 266 individual micro-plots, each one managed differently based on its own soil and climate.

This lot is honey processed, with some of the fruit left intact on the bean as it dries.

The result is rich and sweet. Maple syrup, pineapple, and dried black currant.
