Happy Lunar New Year to all those who celebrate!

To all the horses out there, this is the year of the “fire horse”. This photo was created with the help of ChatGPT when I realised that two of the women I respect and admire the most are also horses - one a rare fire horse, one an earth horse and me the golden horse.

In Chinese culture, horses were considered critical for winning battles, giving rise to the saying “mǎ dào chéng gōng”—”upon the arrival of a horse, the success is secured.”

It is an honour to collaborate and advocate with these women and I know that this year we are going to be unstoppable in advocating for better transparency in the skin care and sunscreen industry as well as better access for Australians living in regional, remote and rural towns! Gong xi fa cai.

There is no question that social media has its positives and negatives with 44.7% of information posted being inaccurate.

At #koreaderma2025 I had the pleasure to present an eposter on how we, as dermatologists, doctors, health professionals need to SHOW UP on our social media feeds in order to combat #viraltiktoktrends and #misinformation

Many have asked me to share what it was about. In #collaboration with @labmuffinbeautyscience @theecowell and @daphnekknows we present SHOW UP!

Thank you to Dr Michelle McRae, @dramyperkins @dr.lisa.byrom @dr.deshan @drsalaswhalen @draseemsharmamd @drmadhulikamhatre @juliusggatmaitan @dr.anesyang @mrodriguesmd @drleonayip_dermo @dr.andrewlow @listentoyourskinwithdrnalashin @dr.andrewlow @doctormariali and @dranesiatania for being a wonderful support and inspiration with their content and work!

Together we can do this but what @koreaderma_official has shown me as I spoke to other colleagues and leading computer scientists and #AI researchers is that we can’t do it alone as #healthprofessionals and #scicommers

We also need the #techgiants to help us crack the #algorithm to spread the right information!

Who is with us?!

Thanks for my birthday gift of going to a @jenbristercomedy show and how delicious was the vegan meal at @littleturtlerestaurant 💗 by @daphnekknows

If there is one thing that I would encourage everyone to do, is to make time and volunteer. Volunteering is good for our community and great for your own well-being and mental health.

Some of the people that I love and respect the most, I have met whilst volunteering.

Happiest birthday to our Patrol Captain and fearless leader and warrior queen @missclaireledgend. by @daphnekknows

I don’t do exclusive, for me, life’s way too hard for that. Give me an inclusive, diverse and non judgmental environment and I’m there. by @daphnekknows

A beautiful evening escaping with @operaaustralia and Carmen.

I have a massive respect and love for those incredibly blessed humans who write and play music. The Arts are a gift from the heavens to allow us to rest our minds and comfort our soul. Thank you to all those special humans that help create such beautiful experiences for us by sharing your gifts. by @daphnekknows

I’ve been called many things in my life, I think, Mum is my favourite.

Celebrating 19 years of blessings, steep learning curves and no regrets, as we are human and human is to err.

Happy Birthday to my first born @kaitlynkaps, my warrior Queen. I knew you were going to be strong willed and that I had zero control the moment you refused your nighttime feeds and you were only a couple of weeks old.

Well they do say that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, so maybe how I view what I call, “my determination”, is your thirst to be independent, fearless and driven to carve out your own path in life.

Maybe I just want to hold onto that beautiful baby girl a little longer, when really, I should be happy to let go and set you free to soar.

I know that you will always succeed in anything you do. I know this, firstly because I have faith in a higher power, God and I have faith in you, the strong, intelligent female that we raised.

Don’t take shit from anyone, but always remain respectful and kind.

I love you to the moon and beyond. You father and I are proud. Your brother, @jonokap adores you too and for all of this, you are blessed. Mum X by @daphnekknows

My first attempt. So much fun. Maybe I was a bat in my past life or maybe I’m just reliving my childhood. by @daphnekknows

It’s never too late to challenge yourself by starting something new. There are so many benefits to getting out of your comfort zone.

For starters you are helping your brain naturally produce, amongst other things:

* endorphins (neurotransmitters that help you cope with pain and stress)
* serotonin (happy hormone)
* dopamine (pleasure expectation, anticipation of reward hormone)

Learning something new in a group setting also helps produce oxytocin (love hormone) which helps explain why you feel a real bond with those that you are with at the time, in this case, it’s those that you exercise with.

All of this also helps increase and sustain self confidence and self worth at any age and especially as we age.

So do not wait until you are fitter, stronger or X (your personal limiting factor) just go for it.

All you really need is an inclusive environment with people who are generous with their support and encouragement of you.

So grateful to @dancing.dee for inspiring me to join @showponypoleandburlesque and to @showponypoleandburlesque for their guidance and patience in my journey of developing new skills at 56 whilst having loads of fun. I love this place ♥️ by @daphnekknows
