When I was around nine or ten, I hated sunsets. Everyday, when the sun sunk into the horizon, so did I. There was a feeling of dread and sadness as it signalled the end of the day and the coming of tomorrow. I was anxious over not knowing what the future would look like. I hated growing up. I hated changes.

When you're a kid, everything just feels so scary. Figuring out college, getting a job, becoming stable, chasing your dreams. You're all too aware of how long the road is and how much it would take to get there. Looking back, it's all so silly. Little me was unaware that the doors have always been there, I just needed to push it.

Here I am now, 25 years old, a writer, an adult figuring things out. Still so many dreams and goals, still unsure how to get there. But because I've made it this far, all by my efforts, I've gained enough confidence to quiet my anxiety.

Now, I love sunsets. I am grateful for the end of each day and the promise of tomorrow. Changes will come, I'll keep growing up, and I'm embracing the mess and beauty of it all.
