It’s weird how these things can come and go so quickly. It’s already been two weeks and I haven’t properly taken a second to reflect on what you’ve achieved. Mum, you ran a marathon! A sunny, hot, sweaty, gritty and emotional 42.2km, and I wouldn’t have run it any other way.

We can’t normalise this, it’s a bloody long way to go, with some serious time on our feet physically and emotionally, you can’t forget it.

I haven’t felt a sense of proud quite like it before. A massive core memory right there. Forever.

And for Alex, lady Alex. We did every step of that for you. It was our why ♥️ taken in Edinburgh, Scotland by @darciewebb

It feels strange that I can’t show you this — a snippet of your letter that I sent to you before you left.

There isn’t too much to say beyond whats here already, two minutes full of smiles and laughter. Through every tough and traumatic moment, you were always a sunflower — searching for sunlight and looking for the positives in whatever life threw at you.

A song that was played at your funeral, regardless of the tears it still brought such a smile to everyone’s faces.

Mum and I will be running the Edinburgh Marathon next Sunday for Sarcoma UK, a charity very close to Alex, and to her family and friends. If you would like to donate to this wonderful cause, Alex would have been so very grateful.
