I have to admit, I didn’t have high expectations for Athens. Overwhelmingly, people described it as gritty, nondescript, and simply a launching pad for Greek islands.

My journey as a photographer has taught me to take a second look & to hone in on overlooked details. This is why I am so grateful to have had a couple of days to walk around Athens.

Yes, it is gritty and it does not have that classic European city look (curly q architecture, cobble stone streets, etc), but it was resplendent with beautiful colors, history, light, stories, and details.

I have never seen a city like Athens before and because of that, its memories live so strongly in my mind. taken in Athens Greece by @darcyrogers
