What do you do before starting your MBA? For Andrew Katz (Class of 2027), the answer was clear, even if it wasn’t easy: summit Mount Everest 🏔️

A West Point grad, Army Ranger, and former military aide to two U.S. presidents, Katz spent 60 days battling windstorms, gear failures, and oxygen scares to reach Everest’s peak, fulfilling a dream that started back in second grade.

Next up? A new chapter at UVA Darden, where he’s bringing his Everest mindset to the classroom and beyond. Let the adventure continue 💼📚

Ning Cong wasn’t always comfortable challenging someone more senior in the room. Through UVA Darden’s case method, she’s learning to speak up with confidence.

As an exchange student from Germany’s WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management (@whu_official), Cong has embraced Darden’s discussion-driven classrooms, where defending a viewpoint and engaging with disagreement are part of the learning experience.

Alongside new friendships and countless coffee chats, she’s exploring how organizations navigate AI adoption and technology-driven change including one of the biggest challenges businesses face: getting people on board with new ways of working.

Meet Jason Lloyd (EMBA Class of 2028): grandfather of four, Navy veteran and proud member of the “58th grade” at UVA Darden.

After a 38-year career in the U.S. Navy, Jason transitioned into corporate leadership and realized that having decades of experience doesn’t mean you have nothing left to learn. Now, at 59, he’s tackling the Executive MBA alongside classmates from a wide range of backgrounds and industries.

His goal goes beyond the classroom: to become a stronger leader, a more effective board member and a mentor to others.

“To truly never forget, you have to remember out loud.” — Marco Amalfitano (Class of 2027)

At dawn, the Darden Military Association and the Darden Run Club gathered to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the families, first responders, veterans and communities forever changed by that day.

Twenty-five years later, UVA Darden remembers the courage, sacrifice and resilience shown in the face of unimaginable tragedy. by @dardenmba
