Some people remember the exact set that made them fall in love with bass music. DAREBEAR wants to be the reason someone else gets that feeling. Darin Cover, better known as DAREBEAR, found his way to DJing after years of being on the other side of the decks. Growing up in the scene, he watched artists he looked up to evolve, with Subtronics having one of the biggest impacts on him. Seeing that progression from both a producer and DJ eventually pushed Darin toward doing it himself. His sound pulls from dubstep, bass, wubs, and drum & bass — the heavier side of electronic music, but for him, the reason behind playing it goes deeper than just making a room go crazy. It comes back to a feeling he knows from being in the crowd. That late-night festival moment when your favorite artist finally plays the song you’ve been waiting for. Everyone around you is locked into the same moment, everything else disappears for a few minutes, and somehow it feels like everything is going to be okay. That’s what DAREBEAR wants people to walk away from his sets with. It doesn’t have to be a massive festival stage. Whether it’s a local club or something bigger, the goal is still to bring a room together and give somebody in the crowd that same feeling that made him want to start DJing in the first place. On October 17, he brings that energy upstairs at El Bufalo. Catch @darebear11111 at J.HN Presents: BASS IN THE SQUARE. 10.17 • EL BUFALO • CANTON SQUARE • 9PM by @darebear11111

Some people hear bass music and move on. Darebear heard it and never really came back. Darin Cover first got pulled into EDM in high school when Skrillex’s first album dropped. From there, the obsession stuck. Loud sounds, heavy drops, big energy, that feeling where the room goes from zero to chaos in about half a second. He always wanted to learn how to DJ, but it took the right moment to actually get started. That moment came at a party at a friend’s house. His friend let him mess around on the decks, and suddenly the thing he had always wanted to try felt real. Darebear got his own setup after that and started teaching himself. At first, just a hobby. Then came a few bar gigs, a New Year’s Eve set with Offstage, and it started feeling like something bigger. His sound lives in bass and dubstep, pulling inspiration from artists like Subtronics, Tape B, Wooli, and GRiZ. What draws him to those names is simple. They know how to make anyone feel included, even someone brand new to the scene. The energy is massive, but it’s also welcoming. That’s the lane Darebear wants to live in too. For him, DJing isn’t about perks or popularity. It’s about sharing music with people who care about it as much as he does. The drop matters, sure, but so does the crowd, the connection, the friends who helped make it happen. Shoutout Canton Candies. Outside of music, he’s a high-level World of Warcraft player, which honestly tracks. Long nights, quick reactions, fully locked in. Different world, same intensity. Catch Darebear at Night Swim with Costa and expect bass-heavy energy built for the deep end. by @darebear11111
