Gintama is a brilliant, genre-defying masterpiece that seamlessly blends chaotic slapstick comedy, biting satire, and deeply emotional, high-stakes shonen action. Set in an alternate-history Edo period where alien invaders known as the Amanto have conquered Earth, banned swords, and forced samurai into obsolescence, the story follows Sakata Gintoki, a lazy, silver-haired former rebel who now runs an odd-jobs business called the Yorozuya alongside his teenage apprentice Shinpachi Shimura and the super-strong alien girl Kagura. What begins as a seemingly episodic collection of absurd, fourth-wall-breaking parodies targeting everything from popular anime to Japanese politics gradually transforms into a sprawling, deeply moving epic. Beneath its crude humor and cynical exterior lies a profound narrative about trauma, found family, and the heavy burden of survival, as Gintoki and his comrades frequently find themselves caught between their mundane daily lives and massive political conspiracies that threaten the fate of the nation. The show's ultimate strength is its unmatched tonal flexibility, possessing a unique ability to make viewers weep with laughter in one episode and cry tears of genuine sorrow and hype in the next, cementing its legacy as one of the most uniquely versatile and beloved series in anime history.

Season 6, Episode 4 of The Walking Dead, titled "Here's Not Here," is a 90-minute standalone episode that reveals how Morgan transformed from a traumatized, unhinged killer into a peaceful practitioner of Aikido.

Eastman and the Cabin
Following the events of Season 3, Morgan (Lennie James) spirals into madness and begins indiscriminately killing walkers and humans alike. He eventually stumbles upon a peaceful, solar-powered cabin owned by a man named Eastman (John Carroll Lynch). Eastman, a former forensic psychiatrist, subdues Morgan and locks him in a cell inside the cabin, but leaves the door open. Over time, Eastman teaches Morgan the philosophy of Aikido and the crucial principle that "all life is precious," helping Morgan process his profound guilt and PTSD.

The Loss and the Lesson
Tragically, Eastman is fatally bitten by a walker during a supply run. Before dying, he tells Morgan he can choose to stay in isolation or rejoin humanity. Inspired by Eastman's teachings and his goat, Tabitha, Morgan leaves the cabin with a new outlook on life, eventually finding his way to Alexandria.

Back to the Present
The episode bookends in the present, where Morgan is recounting this entire backstory to the captive member of the Wolves he locked in a cell in Alexandria. Morgan hopes to show the Wolf that change and peace are possible, although the Wolf challenges Morgan's ideology. The episode concludes with Rick yelling to open the gates of Alexandria, directly tying back into the ongoing survival struggle of the group. by @daredarvok
