A year ago, I packed my bags with excitement, curiosity, and a heart full of hope. I was on my way to Kigali for the International AIDS Conference, not knowing that it would become one of the most memorable experiences of my journey.These photos remind me that conferences are about so much more than the sessions. They are about the people you meet, the conversations that stay with you long after the event, and the friendships that begin over a simple cup of coffee or a shared meal.I learned from brilliant minds, exchanged ideas with advocates from around the world, laughed with new friends, explored the beautiful streets of Kigali, and yes… enjoyed some really good food along the way. Every meal had a story, every conversation opened a new perspective, and every day reminded me that we are stronger when we learn from one another.I returned home carrying more than photos and conference materials. I brought back fresh ideas, lasting friendships, unforgettable memories, and a renewed commitment to advancing HIV prevention and ensuring young people’s voices are part of shaping the future.Now, with just a few days before I head to Rio de Janeiro for #AIDS2026, I can’t help but look back with gratitude. In June, DARE Organization was proudly represented by our Executive Director at the 2026 United Nations High-Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS at the UN Headquarters, joining global leaders, civil society, and community advocates in shaping the future of the global HIV response.The meeting focused on the new Political Declaration on HIV/AIDS and reaffirmed the global commitment to ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. Young people must be at the centre of decisions that affect their health and wellbeing.During the Quarterly Adolescent and Young People Stakeholders Technical Working Group meeting under @tacaidsinfo stakeholders highlighted progress in strengthening HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services for young people, including expanded access to HIV prevention commodities in higher learning institutions and the endorsement of key youth-focused health guidelines.As we move forward, investing in youth-friendly services and ensuring the meaningful inclusion of young people with disabilities will be essential to achieving equitable health outcomes for all.No young person should be left behind.#YouthAdvocacy #dareforprogress #HIVPrevention #stayengagedtz by @dareforprogress
