I used to think camping was all about the extreme. 🏕
Giving up your usual comforts to get closer to nature.

But in Halkidiki, everything turned out differently 👇

Campsites here are designated areas where you’re allowed to pitch a tent.

💶 How much does it cost?
About €30 a night if you arrive in a small car and set up a tent. Motorhomes cost more. And a ready-to-sleep-in bungalow or trailer runs around €100 on average.

What a good campsite has:
🍳 a kitchen with stoves and fridges (yesterday I even spotted a sink for cleaning fish!)
🚻 separate restrooms, a kids’ restroom and a changing table
🚿 hot showers
🧺 a laundry room with ironing boards (in case you need to look neat no matter what 😅)
🛒 a mini market
☕ a café or even a family restaurant
🏖 its own access to the beach

But open fires are banned in Greece, and for good reason, they’re genuinely dangerous. And without a fire, there’s no romance and no cooking, even if you catch the fish yourself.

What you do get is freedom: leave your stuff and tent behind, head out on a tour or a boat trip, discover other beaches, then come back to your little home base.

Lots of Germans and other Europeans stay at places like these.

And the motorhomes are a whole other story. 🚐
They take up almost every spot, and it feels like a competition: whose is the best?

Everything is thought through down to the last detail, and so pretty:
✨ rugs and awnings
✨ tables set with beautiful glassware
✨ cozy lighting
✨ little vases with flowers
✨ hammocks and armchairs

Some even have satellite dishes on the roof, though that’s rare.
And of course, adorable purebred travel-dogs. 🐶
