New York City was a blast and really made me realize just how out of shape I am. Just because I can stand all day and lift heavy things does not mean I can endure the subway stairs and walking 9 miles a day. Food was definitely the highlight of the trip for sure! The architecture is beautiful, personalities not so much. I’ll be happy to be the rudest person in the room in the south as a Californian, New Yorkers made me look like a saint. by @darkascension

After an incident last Christmas when I went to a nail salon and they cut my skin and made me bleed, filed my nails down to the point of massive pain, and still charged me $95, I’ve been on a journey to learn to do my own nails. I feel like I have come a long way! Last 2 photos inspired by nails @junelikethebug had when I saw her at Icon recently! by @darkascension

May has been awesome. So happy my friend finally got a chance to visit me and I finally got to see BMTH. Some really cool pickups for MTG and good food like always. The dove that nested on my parent’s door really reminded me of my grandma who loved birds and would always point out the doves nesting in the roof of her home. taken in Nashville, Tennessee by @darkascension

About a month has passed and I’m still cuddling Jax, not knowing what to do with the disaster growing out on the side of my head, eating good (and bad) food, and learning. I hope to never have to go to Greensboro, NC again… the food was meh outside of the pho! by @darkascension

I can’t believe I’m 32. I honestly would not think I would make it this far. 10 years ago I randomly puked after eating ice cream… I thought it was a fluke but I then spent 3 years throwing up nearly 20 times a day, on so many meds I was a shadow of myself and my mind was so cloudy, I was at my wits end. Knew there was no way I could hold any normal job like this no matter how well I hide it. I basically got to the point I wanted to look into physician assisted suicide because life isn’t worth living if you can’t live it to the fullest. I am so thankful a NP I went to saw similarities to me as her daughter and insisted I go to Stanford, I got in on a cancellation and diagnosed with autonomic dysfunction (mainly gastroparesis) and one magical pill changed everything for me, I was later diagnosed with hEDS when I transferred my care to Vandy when I relocated, meaning I was likely born this way just lucky it didn’t rear its head until I was 22. I was able to go onto nursing school and am now going for my RNFA this year. I have finally found financial stability and hoping to dig myself out of this hole and move forward. I will not deny, I wake up every day in some amount of pain, still puke sometimes, and now am finding I’m developing an allergy to something new often (MCAS), but being able to live life and do as much as I do is what makes me feel fulfilled. 2025 had some the highest highs and lowest lows. I started the year finally getting a hysterectomy. While most women find it shocking, it was life altering and the best thing I’ve ever done for my mental and physical health. I also adopted our sweet girl Avacyn a day after surgery and her spay incision dehisced, we recovered from being “fixed” together. Changed jobs (which came with a lot of negatives and positives in the process) but landed in an awesome place, new debt after ringing in 2025 with 0. Finally got to go to aftershock after literally growing up 2 hours from it but being too poor to ever afford it, quality time with my brother.

I have so much more to look forward to looking to 2026. I already am planning to o going to visit my brother in Arizona to see Bad Omens in March, my best friend is visiting Nashville for their first time and we’re seeing her favorite band and one I have had on my bucket list in May. Also hoping for more financial security and to get my RNFA. After 2025, it can only go up from here. Thank you for everyone who has supported me, listened to me rant or been a shoulder for me to cry on.
