Dark Horse was created to deepen the women’s freeride field and build community. I saw a huge gap between the young, up and coming freeriders and big stage events, there wasn’t really a platform for them to showcase their skills and have the chance to be invited to bigger events. The Academy: a 5 day intensive program with on and off bike lessons from the best established freeriders in the sport @silverstarbikepark The Jam: 3 days of rider judged, jam style format. The best freeriders in the world and the top Academy riders get to showcase their skills and vote on the rider that gets a @naturalselectionbike invite! An “on-ramp” where you can come out of nowhere and end up at one of the prestigious freeride events in the world! This is the next generation of Rampage riders coming up, so look out! Taking it back to last weekend at Dark Horse Academy, where the Jump Jam Invitational was the perfect finish to an unforgettable event. A place where girls who ride had the opportunity to watch and cheer on their mentors and pro riders as they threw down their best tricks, inspiring the future generation.
Proteam athlete Casey Brown started @darkhorsebike with the mission to empower female athletes and encourage them to grow. With the best female mountain bike athletes as mentors, young riders are given a platform to learn, collaborate and build community over the week long academy session.
Happy birthday to the original Dark Horse. 🖤🐎 Casey, what makes you magic isn’t the podiums or the big lines. It’s how you show up: down to earth, real, and the same person whether you’re on a world stage, crouched beside a nervous rider at the top of a drop or spending time on your ranch with your horses, chickens, Nelly & Denver. You built your path with pure grit and determination, making things happen for yourself when no one handed you the way in. And you share that story so openly that every girl around you starts to believe her own biggest dreams are possible too. That’s the real gift you give this community. Not just how to ride, but how to believe & keep showing up no matter what! Here’s to you, our fearless leader! Keep making the impossible look like an easy Tuesday. Let’s give @casey__brown__ some birthday love today! by @darkhorsebike
I overcame some massive demons this week. I couldn’t have done it without my supportive friends and family being here with me! The comeback from my crash last Rampage was harder than I expected, riding and testing features up on the course had me second guessing everything, I even considered pulling out of the event all together. On the last day of practice I managed to hit most of the features on my line though it felt like a war zone in my head. I managed to pull off a complete run in practice this morning and laced my contest run as best as I could. So grateful to have support from all my sponsors to get through this battle. Thank you and congratulations to all the girls this week, everyone crushed it and it’s incredible to see where women’s free ride is headed❤️‍🔥 @trekbikes @pitviper @srammtb @rockshox @outdoorresearch @swatch @bellhelmets @teamnorthperformance @burgtec @deliumtires @thule @deckedusa @c3project @darkhorsebike 📸 @nataliecarriere by @darkhorsebike
