❀️‍πŸ”₯ VALENTINE'S DAY β€” WHEN THE SKY REMEMBERS HER ❀️‍πŸ”₯

If you have ever wondered
whether heaven still leans close…

it is on nights like this.

This Valentine's Day, the trailer for the new spoken word from Letters to Red unfolds against a sky bruised in crushed strawberries and pink marmalade - sweet, reckless, almost sacred.

Set to the haunting John Adams cover of "If I Ain’t Got You,"
the film is not about possession.
It is about astonishment.

About the way the sunset blushes
like a cheek touched without permission.
About the way color becomes prayer.
About the moment when even God forgets His name
and becomes breath.

This is not a love story.
It is a remembering.

A poet standing beneath a strawberry sky
and seeing her -
Red -
in every trembling cloud.

🎬 The visual trailer is live.
πŸŽ™ The full spoken word arrives soon.
πŸ“• The book follows.

Heaven is not above us.
It leans close.

we are not afraid of rain
we are afraid
of what it reveals
about the way we love

There is a moment
quiet, almost merciful
where the sky opens
and tells the truth for us.

Not in words.
In weight.
In memory.

These pieces are fragments
from the evolving mythos of Elysian Kairn
where love is not softened…
but sanctified through ruin, longing, and return.

If it stirred something in you
that ache, that recognition
you are already inside the work.

Year With My Shadow: A Narcissists' Love Story
is available now.

Letters to Red β™₯️ is coming-
a devotional unraveling
written in breath, in body, in fire.

Enter the liturgy.
Follow the descent.

She was never meant to be small.
Not a whisper.
Not a tame bloom.

She was the surplus -
the honey the sun couldn't contain,
the heat bending the horizon,
the sweetness that makes restraint look foolish.

Some women are innocence.

Some are the reason the earth trembles

your smile has made a scandal of my good sense.

I meant to want you reasonably. In moderation.
Like a man with books to finish and some intention of sleeping.

Then that crimson grin... and I lose an entire evening imagining one unhurried kiss.

Come closer. Catch my collar.
Laugh against my mouth when I forget the clever thing I meant to say.

How maddening, to have so many words and be undone by the distance between our lips.

I'd kiss you till the dawn and wake unsated.

I've dabbled and danced round the fire with a few renditions of "hiding places" for some time now. In that vein, I'll be sharing more pieces not included in the upcoming paperback publications but that I've enjoyed tinkering, tweaking, pen twirling through my fingertips. I think we've certainly come to the conclusion that my inner demon has excellent taste and absolutely no manners. πŸ—οΈπŸ”₯

There's a gremlin behind my ribs, Red holds the key, and I'm running out of respectable explanations.

A Most Improper Game - a little mischief inspired by the mythos of Letters to Red.

β€œI blame the beast. You know the game.
You call-he answers to my name.”

Read slowly. He's very good at hiding.

Meditations during editing, White Fire

I had made a virtue of the cold
kept the hearth swept clean,
drawn the curtains,
praised the obedient dark
for never asking anything of me.

Then you...

and the hidden resin in the timbers
remembered the forests it came from.
The walls breathed out their buried summers.
Under the floorboards of my careful life,
a red and ravenous morning stirred.

You are the white fire-
the flame that has burned through
its own crimson garments
and stands, almost invisible,
at the center of everything I feel.

Your name enters my silence
with the quiet wickedness of a spark
finding the one dry thread
in a house full of rain.

And how swiftly
the years catch.

How eagerly the heart betrays
its long apprenticeship to stone.

I feel you in the secret furnace
where my refusals soften,
where the iron of I must not
runs bright enough
to be poured into another shape.

There is something almost indecent
in being brought so fiercely back to life
in discovering how much warmth
the body remembers
after the mind has sworn
it needs no more.

I thought I had buried desire.

But I had only banked its coals,
laid ash upon ash,
and called the pale, undisturbed surface
peace.

Now even my solitude gives off heat.
The cup I lift, the empty chair,
the cold brass handle of a door
everything becomes a place
where your absence burns.

How merciless tenderness can be
to a life arranged around its lack.

I do not ask to emerge unchanged.

Bring your impossible summer
to this country of closed windows.
Let the old frost loosen its possession.
Let the hearth draw breath
all the way down
to its last, unwilling ember.

I had forgotten
what the fire was for:

not merely to survive the winter,
but to come in from the dark,
unfasten the coat,
and stay

because the room is warm,
because you are here,
because my heart,
with all its doors flung open,
is answering you in flame.

You are everything that makes me feel alive,
scorching it's way through my chest.

Somewhere between devotion and desire, even the gods grew jealous. 🍷πŸ₯€

A little forbidden fruit from Letters to Red, as I revisit, refine, and fall in love with these pages all over again.

Some words are written... Others are confessed.

Will you let him enter
the cathedral of your darkest hungers,
where desire hangs like ripe fruit
from the gallows of your innocence?

Will you peel away your virtue
like silk from a forbidden altar,
and offer him the beautiful violence
of all you have been taught to bury?

Will you let his mouth discover
the wilderness beneath your composure,
where your blood runs thick with thunder
and your tenderness has teeth?

Ah, my beautiful heresy...

I have tasted the salt of your sorrows,
pressed my lips against the bruised
and blasphemous scriptures of your heart,
and found, beneath every trembling confession,
a thousand famished gods
devouring the last of heaven.

I have known the wolf
that wears your woman's skin,
the serpent coiled beneath your silk,
the fevered orchard of your longing
where every forbidden fruit
ripens toward ruin.

Tell me-

Will you let him kiss
the exquisite teeth of your darkness?
Will you bare the savage architecture
of your most unholy desires,
or dress your demons in white linen
and call their silence love?

For I have seen you
when the moon became a wound,
when your soul slipped naked
from its little prison of virtue,
when even the devil blushed
at the exquisite contradictions
of your appetite.

I would have gathered
every thorn from your flesh
with the devotion of a starving saint,
drunk the bitter wine of your becoming,
and worshipped the wild, wicked garden
where your angels go to sin.

So tell me, my darling...

Will he love the woman
who blooms so sweetly in daylight,

or will he dare to adore
the ravenous, radiant creature
who rises when heaven shuts its eyes-

your feral midnight sun,
that beautiful beast
who taught the darkness

The most dangerous kind of love is not blind.
It sees everything...

and stays awake.

I do not need to make a saint of you
to find something sacred there.

I can know the rooms you keep locked.
The thorns beneath the tenderness.
The storms you disguise as weather.

I can know that sometimes
your darkness has teeth.

And still remember-

night was never proof
that the stars had disappeared.

Perhaps the deepest intimacy
is not being adored because someone
failed to see your shadows.

It is being seen whole-

the terrible thing.
the tender thing.
the frightened animal beneath the thorns,
and hearing someone whisper:

I know.
I see you.
And my heart has not forgotten yours.

I want to kiss you somewhere
no one has ever touched...

Not your mouth.

Everyone begins
with the obvious.

I mean the land below you-

the winter you wear beneath your summer,
the locked rooms behind your laughter,
the small abandoned chair
where some younger version of you
is still waiting for someone to stay.

Anyone can desire the rose.

I want to know
what weather made its roots.

I want to find the places
you were taught to hide
and enter them without conquest-

quietly,
like rain returning to earth.

Perhaps that is the rarest intimacy:

not being wanted
where you are beautiful,

but being loved
where you believed
you were unlovable.

So tell me
where has no one
ever kissed you?

Maybe you are not drowning.
Maybe your old life is.

And perhaps that is why
survival feels so much like grief.

We mistake every undertow for an ending
because we cannot see
where the current goes.

But some waters do not come to bury us.

They come ravenous for the weight-

the dead loves,
the old names,
the beautiful lies
we nearly drowned ourselves protecting.

Let them go.

You were never meant
to carry every wreckage
to the next shore.

And if tonight
there is nothing beneath your feet
and paradise is nowhere in sight...

swim.

swim frightened.
swim exhausted.
swim with salt in your mouth
and yesterday disappearing behind you.

Paradise has always looked impossible
from the middle of the ocean.

- e l kairn

What are you finally willing
to let the water take?
