@lewittaudio has made its first ever pair of headphones – and rather than playing it safe, they’ve gone wireless.

We took the new LW6 into Darkwood Studios, where engineer Rick Dickerson and artist, songwriter and producer Grace McGuigan put them through a proper studio test.

The big question is latency. LEWITT’s RealSound connection promises uncompressed wireless audio with just 5.8 ms of latency, which potentially makes the LW6 a very different proposition to conventional Bluetooth headphones. But does it actually feel right when you’re recording?

Rick gets into the engineering and monitoring side of the LW6, while Grace puts them to work in a real recording session – singing, playing and monitoring herself without the usual headphone cable getting in the way.

We also get into the sound of the 40 mm bio-cellulose drivers, closed-back design, RealSound wireless system, onboard DSP and some of the additional monitoring features that make the LW6 much more than simply a pair of wireless headphones.

The strange thing is that after a few minutes of using them, you rather quickly stop thinking about the fact they’re wireless at all. And that might be the most impressive thing about them.

Head to our YT channel to watch the full video and read the full Headliner review at headlinerhub.com.

COMING SOON: HEADLINER x FEATURED ARTISTS COALITION 🎧🌐

We recently teamed up with the @featuredartistscoalition (FAC) and @kave.space for a special series of live sessions built around artists, performance and immersive sound.

Featuring @rilasedge , @cjpandit , and @shesberenice each performance was captured live and analogue at Darkwood Studios, with @earthworksaudio SR117 vocal mics and DK6 drum mics capturing the performances - while the whole session was filmed in 360° video.

From there, we’ve taken the recordings into Dolby Atmos, creating immersive mixes that will be released as binaural YouTube experiences - headphones highly recommended. 🎧

A huge shout to FAC and the work they continue to do supporting and championing artists at every stage of their careers. It was brilliant to bring that ethos into the studio and put the focus firmly on the artists and their performances.

What does each piece of a professional studio actually do?

Every great record relies on a signal chain you can trust.

🎧 Monitors let you hear every detail.

Converters ensure what comes in and out of your system remains true to the source.

🎛️ The console becomes the creative hub, bringing everything together into a workflow that’s fast, intuitive and musical.

Featuring a setup built around Genelec, Prism Sound and SSL - three staples in professional recording studios - here is an insight into a session with aspiring artist @amyb_simplymusic who recorded her original song ‘Butterflies’ at our flagship @darkwoodstudiosuk recently.
