Not every battle you’re fighting is a battle God assigned you.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how easy it is to become so consumed with fighting what we perceive to be the enemy that we never stop to ask God whether we’ve identified the battle correctly.

And sometimes, that requires a difficult kind of humility.

The kind that says, “Lord, I know I’ve made mistakes. I know my own desires have influenced my perspective. But more than I want my way, I want Yours.”

Because what if the person you’ve been praying against was never your enemy?

What if the very thing you’re asking God to do is exposing something in your own heart that He wants to heal?

I’m calling this counterfeit warfare.

When we’re so busy fighting the wrong battle that we lose sight of what God is actually asking of us.

And one of the questions I’ve asked is:

What is the fruit of your war?

Is it producing love, peace, patience, and humility? Or bitterness, jealousy, resentment, and division?

Because discernment isn’t just about identifying what’s happening around us. It’s also about allowing God to examine what’s happening within us.

Before you declare war, surrender your perspective.

Before you identify an enemy, examine your heart.

And before you ask God to fight for what you want, ask Him to show you what He wills.

Not every battle you’re fighting is one God called you to fight.

Save this for a moment when you need to examine your perspective. And share it with someone who needs the reminder.

I call this counterfeit warfare and it will absolutely distract you from your REAL promise. “You will know them by their fruit”. What is the fruit of your war? Fighting from a place of pride and ego will have you warring for things that God has never asked you to war for and it will end up with you having hatred in your heart while calling it spiritual warfare. Check your fruit, ask for clarity, get set on the right path and THEN go after that promise.

Genesis has always been a miracle. 🤍

Before she was born, doctors told me I should consider ending my pregnancy. When I chose not to, I was told she may not survive to birth. When she was born, I was told she may not make it to her first birthday.

She spent the first three months of her life in the NICU, and in those uncertain days, I dedicated her life completely to God and prayed for a miracle.

God gave us one.

And today, 17 years later, I watched that miracle choose Him for herself. 🥹

In April, Genesis found her way to the feet of Jesus and began building a relationship with the same faithful Father who has been with her since the womb.

Today, she took her next step of obedience and was baptized. 🌊🤍

There is something indescribable about praying for your child’s life before she can speak, and then one day watching her publicly give that life back to the One who gave it to her.

From the NICU to the waters of baptism.

My miracle baby belongs to Jesus. 🤍
