A pretty dreamy spot for a chess match, dontcha think? by @darlingstudio

When all my childhood classmates wanted to be ballerinas, firemen, princesses, and superheroes, my dream was to become a principal’s assistant. I knew nothing about the job; I just thought it would give me access to all the pens, pencils, markers, and paper my little heart desired.

Fast forward and here I am, still obsessed with art and writing supplies. I’ve started an illustrated field guide to my favorites on Substack for those obsessed, too. 🔗in bio by @darlingstudio

Dolly Parton is one of the ladies on my wall, watching over me as I work and inspiring me to be creative, generous, and brave. She will be missed, but her goodness lives on. How lucky are we?

Portrait of Dolly by artist @lauren_denitzio. Other ladies on my wall: Portrait of me by Maira, hand painted lady by @sabrinawardharrison, Velma, Miffy, and a portrait of Lynda Barry (not pictured but worth mentioning). by @darlingstudio

Pretty things I did not buy: Mug from @beginnersdiner in San Diego, @gapfactory sweater, Ohto gel pen from @paperplant.co, red velvet nail polish, @ikeausa jute basket
