Heart Rock Trail in Crestline is hands down my favorite spot to take Lexi. Great scenery, fresh mountain air and a solid quick escape from the desert.

If you haven’t been, check it out. You won’t regret it!🌲

LAN Noodle House | West Covina
Combo C || Spicy Pickled Mustard Green Beef + Tea Egg + Pickled Veg App + Diet Coke = $20.99

Rich, spicy broth, tender slices of beef, and just the right amount of tang from the mustard greens made for a really well-balanced bowl. The side of pickled vegetables added a nice crunch and acidity to cut through all that richness. Definitely a solid meal and hell of a deal!

Hope to see yall soon! by @darrelleaston_

Don’t get me wrong, I love spending two to three hours making an elaborate meal, but I’ve been having a lot of fun with these single pot rice cooker dishes lately. This batch was two pounds of marinated ground lamb from my favorite halal market that I rolled into meatballs. I added two cups of rice, two and a half cups of liquid, a can of tomatoes, garbanzos, and a whole bunch of vegetables into the rice cooker before topping with the balls. There's plenty of room to change things up and use what you have. Major points for having only one pot to wash.

I think having a few simple meals like this on rotation makes taking care of yourself a whole lot easier. When there’s good food ready at home, I’m way less likely to grab something out just because I’m tired or don’t feel like cooking. It saves money and gives me more say in what I’m eating. Food should still be fun. It just doesn’t always need to take up your whole evening or leave you with a sink full of dishes 💯

Watching out trails, I've got a new buddy to explore with! Long story short, our neighbor put his house on the market and could no longer look after Lexi. Welcome to the newest addition of the Michnowicz woof pack 🇩🇪 by @darrelleaston_

Rancho Cucamonga Restaurant Spotlight: @cupnoodlesshop 🥢

If you asked me to pick one restaurant I probably eat at more than anywhere else in the Inland Empire, it’d be Cup Noodle Shop in Rancho Cucamonga. For around 16 bucks, you get one of the most satisfying bowls of noodles you’ll find anywhere. The broth has this deep, smoky, spicy flavor that’s unlike anything else around, and the fresh noodles have an incredible bite. It’s the kind of meal I find myself craving every Saturday morning!

I always go for the spicy beef noodle soup, but if spicy isn’t your thing, just let them know when you order so they can tone it down for you. If you’re into unique Chinese food, this is one of those places you owe yourself to try at least once. There’s a reason why this lowkey little spot is always busy. Enjoy!

High Desert Food Truck Spotlight: @blacklanternramen

I finally had a chance to try Black Lantern Ramen, and for a team that’s only done a handful of pop-ups, they’re already putting out a seriously impressive bowl. I went with the Meat Lovers ramen and added a akajima egg. The broth was rich, silky, and packed with flavor without feeling overly heavy. The noodles had that perfect chew that every good ramen should have, and the meats were tender and well seasoned.

What impressed me most is that this doesn’t feel like a food truck that’s still “figuring it out.” It already feels polished, and if this is what they’re serving at the beginning, I think they’ve got a very bright future ahead. I highly recommend you guys and gals keep them on your radar- especially when they're at @3rdstrikebeer. Their extensive draft list pairs surprisingly well with a steaming hot bowl of ramen 🔥

Best High Desert Brewery? ✅

If you’re a fan of craft beer or hard seltzers and you haven’t made it out to @3rdstrikebeer yet, I honestly don’t know what you’re waiting for. In my opinion, they make the BEST craft beverages anywhere in the High Desert, and I’d put their beer up against just about any brewery down the hill. Whether you’re into crisp lagers, hop-forward IPAs, or unique seasonal releases, there’s always something worth trying. Goooooo!!! 🍻
