A few more memories from Ironman Portugal πŸ‡΅πŸ‡Ή The race photos capture some of the story, it’s lovely to look back at these moments and appreciate what an experience it was. A tough day, but one I’m grateful to have been part of. Huge respect to everyone who took on the challenge, and a big thank you to everyone who supported and encouraged me along the way. Some great memories to take away from Cascais! πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ #IronmanPortugal #Cascais #Ironman @ironmanportugal @ironmantri @cascais_oficial #triathlon by @darrenlast
@ironmanportugal yesterday in the lovely #Cascais! Been training hard for this one, with long hours spent on the bike, alongside the long runs and swims (which I’m more used to). It all came together to hold me in good stead yesterday – as much as it can. The training is a given, but after that, it’s all about the planning and attention to detail. Nutrition by the hour, when to rest and when not to, mitigating mechanical risks, and constantly checking in on how the body is feeling. Then it comes down to the mind and sheer grit. This is not easy. It takes you to places you wouldn’t choose to go (but we do), and that makes finishing and achieving the goal all the more satisfying when you cross that line. A great experience, and the chats and camaraderie with other athletes are all part of why we do this. And, of course, the people we do it with and those who support us through what is, let’s face it, a pretty obsessive pursuit. After Barcelona five years ago, I never ruled out doing another Ironman, but I couldn’t really see myself taking one on again. After yesterday, that feeling is stronger than ever! #ironman #importugal #triathlon by @darrenlast

Whitstable Oysterman Sprint Triathlon πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ Beautiful sunny, warm morning down at Whitstable, with a dead calm sea. Pretty much perfect conditions for a triathlon. A good day for me as well. A decent consistent swim, bike and run, which I’m very happy with β€” especially coming off the back of a big training week. Finished 15th overall and 5th in my age group, so happy days. πŸ’ͺ Another race in the legs and everything feels like it’s moving in the right direction. Less than 8 weeks until Ironman Portugal πŸ‡΅πŸ‡Ή All looking good at this point. Keep training. Keep building. πŸ‘Š Phots @medwaytri @activelifeoysterman #triathlon #ironman #whitstable #ironmanportugal @ironmantri @ironmanportugal by @darrenlast
