Dear Diary,

Recently I hiked around Edale.

Apparently, “a gentle walk” in the Peak District means climbing fucking mountains until your tiny plastic legs start questioning your life choices.

I followed the river when I got tired. I got more tired.
I got lost. Twisted an ankle. Fell in a stream.
My balls chaffed…. My blisters had blisters on them.
And somehow… I’d do it all again tomorrow.

Funny how the best adventures are usually the ones that don’t go to plan.

Keep going.
You never know what’s waiting around the next corner.

Edale adventures

Dear Journal,
I arrived in Edale full of confidence.
This was my first mistake.
The plan was simple. Climb Mam Tor. Visit Lose Hill. Return triumphant. Possibly become a local legend.
The weather looked acceptable. The map seemed straightforward. I had snacks.
What could possibly go wrong?
Quite a lot, as it turns out.

At one point I became convinced I was very high.
Not in the exciting way.
Just geographically.
The ground appeared to be an alarming distance away.
I sat on a pile of rocks, opened my guidebook and spent several minutes wondering whether clouds looked bigger when viewed from above.
Research remains ongoing.
After Mam Tor I headed towards Lose Hill.
Despite the name, I failed to see this as a warning.
The route became less obvious.
The paths became less obvious.
My whereabouts became considerably less obvious.
For a brief period I was confidently lost.
Then I was just lost.
I consulted the map.
The map consulted me.
Neither of us had any useful suggestions.
Eventually I emerged from a field where I encountered Ben.
Ben was not pleased.
Apparently I had wandered onto land occupied by a farmer.
Ben immediately appointed himself the farmer.
He informed me that I was trespassing, disturbing livestock and generally causing administrative difficulties.
His exact words have been omitted from this journal to preserve its family-friendly nature.
I apologised.
Ben shouted.

The remainder of the walk involved more hills, more views and several attempts to convince myself that I absolutely knew where I was going.
I did not.
But somehow I ended up back in Edale anyway.
Which is one of the great mysteries of walking.
You spend six hours getting lost and somehow arrive exactly where you started.
I call that a successful expedition.
Distance travelled: Far.
Times lost: At least three.
Arguments with farmers: One.
Regrets: None.

Erics 2026 journal….
Wicken, England… Biking …. 01 Jun 2026

Set out this morning on the trusty old found bicycle, with absolutely no plan whatsoever.
A strategy that continues to deliver remarkably inconsistent results.
Several miles later I found myself bombing down farm tracks, avoiding puddles, a dead pheasant and what I can only assume was an extremely judgemental sheep.
At one point I became convinced I knew where I was.
That feeling passed quickly.
The legs were tired. The coffee had worn off. The map had become more of a suggestion.
But for a little while, nothing else mattered.
I think I found myself, somewhere between tired and free…

Eric’s journal - entry 169

Today I put on a suit and attempted to behave like a responsible adult….It lasted seven minutes,
I was then distracted by lemons, sunshine and a suspiciously refreshing yellow beverage and now I’m naked in the bathtub and crying. Anyway ….

Somewhere in Italy, a grandmother would be proud.
Somewhere in HR, a manager would be concerned.

Chewies full shoot. Besides shattering his left nut when he fell off the slippery pole. Things went well. He jammed his jammy jam on his jammy guitar, He got his hair done. And. He got a free ball massage after the fall. Nobody’s touched that in ages, least of all been able to find it. It was like looking for a tic in a sheepskin rug, but Eric persevered. This made chewy happy. Now he is going to sue for workplace compensation. So. All in all a good day really. It’s just a comb. But it makes all the difference sometimes, well, if you’re not bald. I guess. It’s been a long time since I’ve never owned a comb. My grandad did. He kept it in his sock. But that’s not important. Lucky Eric had that comb. He is thinking of becoming a stylist. Except he hates styling. And touching other people. And people in general. In fact. He might become a recluse, or a private pole dancer. If @dettol would sponsor him with a pole cleaning kit. Christ we miss the Covid days. When people had to stay away. Stay apart. Then it didn’t matter if you combed your hair… nobody cared. Dettol cared though. Their sales went through the roof. Anyway. Whatever. Nevermind. There’s Eric and chewy. Getting too close. On a pole. Chewy had a glamour shoot this morning. Happened to be May the 4th. We haven’t done a shoot for a while. He did accidentally slide down the pole and land on one of his furry testicles. Eric had to massage it better. And then they done a duo shoot on the pole which may be up later. Or it may not. Either way. Spending some time in the studio with mr Hannibal Lickter. Testing a few things. I wish I had his carefree attitude. Life is just so lovely from a dogs perspective. Just some old pictures of fire. Because. Remember remember. And fuck the governments. And fuck the billionaires.
