Oh my god, @beardedwolf and @bikerguy27 gave me the best birthday present EVER! They had ANNIE LENNOX, my ultimate diva, sign a copy of her new photo book when they went to her signing in LA that I could not attend. And the happy birthday wish from her sent me over the moon!! I don’t want to overhype You Can See Everything (although I absolutely might) or spoil a single thing (and I won’t), but good lord, this is one of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen and the most fun I’ve had in a theater in ages. The audience ATE THIS MOVIE UP!! And it’s meta in the most fascinating, inventive ways (unlike Digger). I was completely captivated and frequently shocked throughout its nearly three-hour runtime, and the movie kept surprising me in ways I couldn’t possibly have anticipated. I’m still thinking about it.

Do yourself a favor and see this movie ASAP, preferably in the most packed theater you can find. Trust me, you want to experience this one with an audience. by @darwinbell

Alaska Thunderdome@ck may have been ill but it didn’t stop Oh, Mary from being fabulous!! @njjisrelentless was completely up for the challenge as Mary and brought the house down with her bratty curls. And what a treat to have @sirwestaytay back on the SF theater stage after appearing at ACT 15 years ago, playing Mouse in the Tales of the City musical. This play is pure, concentrated joy and it is the perfect antidote to what ails us right now. taken in Curran by @darwinbell

A.C.T. has done the near impossible: turned Alfred Hitchcock’s epic cinematic travelogue, North by Northwest, into a nimble, hilarious and gloriously musical stage play.

All the iconic set pieces are here—the crop duster in the cornfield, the Mount Rushmore chase and all the other impossible-to-stage Hitchcockian madness—and they’re ingeniously recreated with a huge wink to the fact that, well, you can’t actually pull them off onstage. And that wink is exactly what saves the day. Rather than trying to compete with the movie’s spectacle, this production gleefully embraces its theatrical limitations and turns them into part of the fun.

It also helps that the hardworking, enormously talented cast throws themselves into the madness with complete commitment. The result is clever, silly, energetic and surprisingly charming.

I went in wondering how the hell anyone could turn North by Northwest into a stage musical. I left wondering how soon it could make the leap to Broadway.
