I made this on the lathe, took me about an hour. Its a joint mouth piece for smoking. I didnt even make a cad model, just freestyled it. 8mm od, 5mm bore with a lip which continues as 4mm. Its about 25mm long but i randomly decided to turn some grooves. After which i needed to face the part off a bit to make the grooves line up better. So it turned out more like 24mm. It's pretty good for a freestyled part i think.

Ok, so the cyclone separator is set up(#1). I emptied my vaccuum (mostly steel chips) and vaccuumed it again with the cyclone(#2). All that was in the vaccuum was some fine dust(#3). Not even sure if its been in there since i emptied it. So it seems to work very well. Heavier things tend to spin around the cyclone for a bit before falling down. And the shape of the vaccuum hose causes some small chips to get stuck in there, but large clogs self clear. And also it seems like i am losing some vaccuum somewhere. But all in all, i am extremely satisfied with the result. 9/10 would recommend.

Evolution of my lathe parts
#1 was my first time ever using a lathe. Its really not on dimension. The flange is 2.25 instead of 2, the shoulder length is 7.5 instead of 8... its bad. Made it with no dro, just using the machine and calipers.
#2 was my first time using a dro. Its not perfect but wayyyy better than the first one. All diameters are 0.1mm undersized, lengths are perfect.
#3 is the last part i made. Its basicly on point, except for some burrs

I'm printing a cyclone separator. It has about a 50% chance of actually working. I have no idea how to properly design these. Just threw something together in like an hour, hoping it'll work. Updates coming soon-ish

My first turned part. Shaft is slightly longer than in cad.
Working without a dro is a pain. Already ordered dro-s for x, z and tailstock and replacement tapered roller bearings.
It's a screw. Not gonna say anything more.

I got a mini lathe. Within 1 day of it arriving, the motor controller blew up. Me, being the cheapskate that i am didnt bother buying a new one for like 200$. I still had that 500w china spindle motor i originally wanted to use for the milling machine. So what i did is i replaced the lathes control board with the one from the spindle. Lathes motor is 350w i think and the controller is 500w so i need to be careful. Also i lost the on/off button and the direction switch. But it seems to work quite well and for a 0$ fix, im okay with that.
I had some issues with my breaker tripping after the fix. The issue was the casing of the motor controller is connected to v-. No idea why, pretty sure thats not how Electronics are done. I had grunded the motor controller so v- which is also on the controllers casing was being shorted to ground. After separating the controller on a piece of wood, making sure it wasnt grounded, it worked.
I also tried some milling on the lathe because i will be upgrading it and need some milled parts. Used a 1/4" 4 flute hss endmill. It didnt sound very pretty, maybe i had the rpm too low, but it powered through and the endmill lives to cut another day. by @darxcadventures

Its finally done. i shared this Design on grabcad. instagram doesnt like links tho, so if youre interrested, my account name is "darkscadventures" (just like here just with ks instead of x) there is a step file of the machine, a file which lists needed hardware&materials and one which is a summary of the design choices i made and also assembly instructions. in order to reed that youll need to download the file from grabcad. also, im not a qualified machine tool designer, keep that in mind. this Design should work pretty well tho.
