10 years of flying … ☀️ 🏔️ 🌊 Since starting my drone journey, there’s been plenty ups and downs … thankfully more ups BUT if I could give my beginner self a few tips, they’d be these …🚁 Fly, Fly, Fly … as much as possible. Confidence comes from conquering the fear of flying. Don’t be afraid of crashing☀️ Light over location … Great light can turn an average place into a 10/10 so Golden Hour over everything! 🌬️ Respect the Wind … fly INTO the wind first so getting home is easier. I’ve seen many people lose their drone by not understanding wind speed and direction🔋 Manage battery level … strong winds and a low battery mean stress. Trust the DJI Fly App and always leave enough to land safely. I’ll generally come home at 30% 🤔 Pre-visualise before you fly … know what you want to capture before you fly, it saves time, battery and frustration Most importantly, have fun flying! Moments from the North ⛴️ 🐻‍❄️ 🦭 ⛰️ An unbelievable Expedition Micro-cruise circumnavigating the Archipelago of Svalbard w/ @secretatlas aboard the beautiful M/S Freya. An ice class vessel housing only 12 passengers making it an unforgettable and personal trip. From the mind blowing 2:30am polar bear encounter out on the ice flow, the insane bird cliffs of Alkefjellet, the ice wall of Austfauna and my first time crossing 80 degrees North … So many amazing memories and even more to share 🎥I’m only just now getting my head around the amount of footage myself and the legend @kylekotajarvi have caught on this trip … again thanks for having me on this one! Faroe Islands with @thypoch_official 😮‍💨🎥This trip was my first time shooting fully manual spherical lenses and I loved it. My Simera-C kit consisting of the 16, 35 and 75 are incredible, light, produce some beautiful imagery and with lightening fast apertures of up to T1.5, you know they’ll handle any lighting conditions 🙏I’ve actually brought these lenses on my current trip, so stay tuned for some ‘hopefully’ amazing scenes … ⛴️ 👀 #faroeislands #føroyar #filmmaking #behindthecamera #thypoch by @darylswalker

The Faroe Islands 🌊 🇫🇴 As you know, I’ve had my fair share of visits to the to these remote islands, this trip was in fact my 10th time stepping into some of my favourite vistas. However, this adventure took me along a different path, seeking out new areas thanks to the Self Navigating Car initiative by @visitfaroeislands … an authentic way of seeking out new corners of this familiar place, with more virðing (known as respect) for nature and the communities.My route took me from the capital up to the North of Eysturoy, an island I’m very familiar with but didn’t realise there is so much more to witness! Farne Islands Puffins 🐧 Some of my favourite images I’ve ever taken of these cute little birds and all from the local playground just off the coast of Northumberland. It’ll take just under an hour to sail out to these islands but once you land you’ll be in paradise! I highly recommend a 100-400 for today’s landings … you could get away with a 70-200 a while ago which is what I used to get probably my all time fave puffin image. Number 3 🥺It’s become a little ritual every year to return to various places to see these guys!
