2/25- two years, and it still feels like it’s all just a big mistake.

One weird thing about grief is that, yes, time going by can help ease the pain of the loss, but the longer the one you love is gone, the more you realize they aren’t coming back.

So. Much. Love.
This past week we celebrated you, we mourned you, we cried and laughed and missed you so much and it hurt so much. Still does.
We hugged and kissed, danced, made pasta, cried some more, and loved you with every breath.
Look at what you did, Coralissa. Look at this astonishing family of extraordinary, talented, gorgeous, fierce people, from a whole network of communities, that you built and tended like a wild crazyass garden. You did that.
We came away energized, exhausted, connected and above all, inspired by you and the life you lived, cut way too short but full, so full.

Okay. Okay.

This is post I never in a million years wanted to make. I still don’t.

Coralissa, my dear, dear friend. I’ve spent the week since you passed diving into boxes of old photos that document our thirty year friendship. Your energy and lust for life jumps off the surface of every one. I am in awe of how many adventures we’ve shared, the places we’ve gone, the life we have lived.

You are an artist and a builder of communities. The way you bring people together is an art in itself. You are an incredible partner to Ivan, mother to Nainoa, auntie to August and about a hundred other kids, and friend to so, so many.

Witnessing the swirl of friends who came to the hospital in your last days on earth to honor you and love on you was astonishing, but also unsurprising, all of us knowing we could never match the love you have given to us throughout the years.

I’m holding you in my broken heart now and forever. We all are.

We love you. I love you.
