Mom & Chino are dancing together in heaven! Although, you are missed, we honor and celebrate your legacy!Carlos “Chino” García was more than a neighborhood leader, he was a guardian of our history, our culture, and our people. Through CHARAS and decades of tireless community organizing, he fought to ensure that Loisaida remained a place where art, culture, and self-determination could flourish.Long before “community development” became a buzzword, Chino was doing the work. He understood that preserving a neighborhood meant preserving its people, its artists, its stories, and its soul.I am grateful to have learned from him. His example helped shape my own path as an artist, organizer, and cultural activist. Much of what we continue to build through Piragua and our work in the community stands on foundations laid by visionaries like Chino.His legacy lives in every mural, every community garden, every artist who refuses to give up, every child who discovers their voice through culture, and every person who still believes that Loisaida belongs to its people.Thank you, Chino, for your courage, your wisdom, and your unwavering love for this community.Loisaida will never forget you!🎥 @kikicotto by @dasomonster

Today we lost a true Loisaida legend.For those who knew Chino Garcia, you know what a beautiful soul he was. I learned so much from him over the years—whether we were sharing a meal at Casa Adela, grabbing coffee, or simply walking through Loisaida as he told stories that brought its history to life. He had a way of making you laugh while teaching you something you would never forget.I learned about CHARAS, the fight to preserve Loisaida, and the community’s resilience came directly from Chino. His dedication helped protect not just a place, but a culture and a legacy that continues to inspire so many of us.Thank you, Chino, for your wisdom, your humor, and your unwavering love for your community. You will be deeply missed, but your legacy will live on.¡Que viva Chino Garcia! Rest in power. by @dasomonster

LIFE IS GRAND | TEASER 🔥Today, on my mom’s birthday, I’m honored to share that we’ve officially completed the final edit of Life Is Grand, the title track from Joe Gonzalez’s latest album.This project is far more than a music video. It’s a celebration of the life and legacy of my brother, William Millán, whose creativity, vision, and spirit continue to inspire us. Releasing this milestone on my mother’s birthday feels especially meaningful, as it also honors a woman whose life was dedicated to art, culture, and community.
