WELL!!!!!

I did something I'd never thought I'd do in my forty-six years living on planet Earth. Instead of just one nightclub tonight. I attended TWO!!!!! Why you ask? I wanted to see if I still had the stamina after rocking the day party over at Hotel Chantelle in NYC.

Picture it. The time...10 p.m. (Do you know where you're children are?) The venue...RetroClubNYC (at an Irish pub). The racially diverse crowd leaned a bit older with more Boomers and Jonesers, although Gen X did make their presence felt. The music began with lost disco hits to lure the crowd in, but as night turned to morning, it was hit after hit after hit from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, with a few 2000s hits peppered in. My only worry wasn't whether my tired feet would keep up with the music, but rather my throat from all that singing and shouting. At times, I had to either lower my voice an octave or keep quiet to protect my voice. All in all, I had a funky good time at RetroClubNYC, but in hindsight, I think I'll consider staying at a hotel before I try to do two clubs in the same night again. by @dasutro

Regardless of who won the week, whether it was:

The Knicks and the Parade of Champions,
The Obamas and their grand opening of their presidential center in Chicago,
The Juneteenth celebrations from all across America, or the Tartan Army of Scotland visiting Boston during the World Cup,

this past week has been one to remember.

Suffice it to say that my days of independence have been celebrated and we're still in the middle of June, which is fine by me, for if there is anyone who believes that not celebrating the 4th of July is considered "un-American," then there are only two words in the entire English language that need to be said. by @dasutro

Y'AAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!

I'm in Philadelphia visiting relatives and decided to pay a call on the Reading Terminal Market. The market itself is outstanding because the atmosphere is reminiscent of Pike Place Market in Seattle. As for the food, I had me a nice #10 smoothie (Mango, Orange and Pineapple) from Kamal's Middle Eastern Smoothies and Juices, and then there was the cheesesteak. Just like a native New Yorker can never have enough pizza, a native Philadelphian can never have enough cheesesteaks.

Now I have tasted many a cheesesteak in my lifetime from my countless visits to Philadelphia. I've had some from Geno's, some from Larry's, some from Abner's, some from Jim's, and even one from Ishkabibbles's with a Gremlin. All of them were good in many different ways, but the cheesesteak I had today from Uncle Gus' Cheesesteaks at the Reading Terminal Market in Center City Philadelphia may be the greatest cheesesteak I have ever had in my entire life.

How good was this cheesesteak? I didn't even ask fir ketchup, or mustard, or any condiment to go with it. This cheesesteak was as old-school as cheesesteaks get with the right blend of Cooper sharp cheese and well-seasoned ribeye steak melded together on a well toasted Sesame-seeded hoagie roll. I wasn't even a quarter of the way through the sandwich when I had to walk it off to the point where I had to takes a few bites, and walk it off...bite and walk it off...bite and walk it off...bite and walk it off....until it was all gone, and even then, the flavor and aroma of the sandwich lingered on, and yet I STILL walked it off. Really, it was THAT GOOD!!!!! To top it all off, it's exceeding rare that a cheesesteak that's made so well can actually move you to tears (it's probably the seasoning that made me do it).

How would I rate this cheesesteak from Uncle Gus' Cheesesteaks at Reading Terminal Market? I'm not going to steal a line from Daym Drops and tell you it's a "five all day", so I'll just say that this cheesesteak gets a "five on the black hand side," although if I had my way, it would get at least a twenty. by @dasutro
