Today is my 30th anniversary of living in LA!! On 6-29-96, I moved here to LA thanks to the amazing Stacey Marks Bronner, now Stacey Marks Nectow. Stacey was promoted to the Fox Network (as EVP, Marketing) from WFLD Fox 32 in Chicago where she was General Manager & I was her Executive Assistant & she brought me with her. This pic is from the going away party my family threw me at the house of my Uncle George & Aunt Dimpy Morvis. This is mama Joan & I holding a poster size pic of childhood me (nice hair, Nicholas from Eight is Enough). I’ll be celebrating with the karaoke gang in a few weeks. This Sunday will be the 4th Father’s Day without him. Doesn’t get easier but I of course concentrate on the awesome memories. Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there. All of us FOSC (Friends of Steve Calzaretta) have been in mourning all day. Throughout the day while at the office, I couldn’t stop thinking...all day...that “our friend is gone.” I’m finally home & can post something about the beautiful person Steve was.

At 2:10 this morning, our dear friend Steve Calzaretta passed away peacefully & painlessly at home with his family at his side. Only a month ago, Steve was diagnosed with a very rare & fatal neurodegenerative disease known as CJD. A condition for which there is no cure or treatment. I’m still in shock & deeply sad but if it had to happen, I’m glad that Steve was not in pain.

I have been friends with Steve ever since we did Little Shop of Horrors together at Pheasant Run Dinner Theatre in St. Charles, IL in the early ‘90s. Steve brilliantly played Orin the dentist. We’ve remained friends all this time, next to never being too serious together & always making each other laugh & almost always singing. This video is from a karaoke party of mine from almost exactly two years ago. Just a short example of Steve’s awesome singing ability.

What solidified the decades-long friendship was the fact that we were a part of a musical theater group of friends that our director extraordinaire Diana Martinez created. She put this family of friends together & we will be eternally grateful. Friends for life.

I am sending my deepest condolences to Steve’s wife Michelle Kelly Calzaretta, Steve’s brother Tony Calzaretta & Steve’s uncle Frank Del Giudice, along with all the Calzaretta & Del Giudice families. I am so beyond sorry for your colossal loss. Steve was THE VERY BEST. 🙏❤😥 taken in The Boulevard by @daveainla

I am in total shock. I had no idea she was ill. RIP to an absolute legend. I only met her once, but she was the sweetest. It was at a Schitt’s Creek event for Pop TV at the dearly departed Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood. I told her “I have loved you since SCTV.
