Perfect rainy Sunday afternoon for Game 1 of the 2026–27 Vipers season. We navigated Skate 3’s labyrinth of hallways to locker room 8, a hilariously tiny prison holding cell, and first-game jitters be damned, stormed the ice like warrior Scotsmen. For her first trick Molly “The Magician” snuck a low liner in from deep for 1–0 🚨 Addie “The Animal” Lindquist made it 2–0 in close, snapping one short side 🚨 Maddy “The Mauler” Doherty set up Mia “The Moose” Mounsey for a chance. “Big Z” Katt McCann with a reach longer than a Lennox Lewis jab poked the puck off a streaking Islander. Addie just missed on a sneaky backhand, while Evelyn “The Price Is Right” Price got hauled down on a would-be breakaway. Maeve “Wenzday” Wenz led the charge alongside Lindquist and Price on a heck of a shift peppering the isles tendy. Avery “Sweet Z” Swett-Zizzo found Maci “The Menace” Crawford for a chance, then for her second trick of the night Molly “The Magician” made the puck disappear again for 3–0 🚨 In the second, Mads sent Mia in on a 2-on-1 Mia put it on net and Maddy buried the juicy rebound 4–0 Vipers 🚨 Elizabeth “The Toll Booth” Doyle made em’ pay the price letting one rip from the point to make it 5–0 🚨 Avery “ACE” Epstein shut down a 2-on-1 with textbook positioning. Jojo “The Henchman” Hinchion muscled Islanders out of the crease all game and earned a first-half shutout. Audrey “Celly” Lavoie took over for the second half. A quick whistle cost us a goal that almost mattered later. She made a killer pad save on a 2-on-0, and Sweet Z had a quality chance to close the second. Then im not sure if she showed up in an Uber or what, but a tiny Isles speedster appeared out of nowhere and, in a blink, it was 5–4. The tired Vipers were running on fumes, leaving Lavoie with a tough task, but Addie “The Animal” came to the rescue with a late third-period goal for just enough breathing room and a 6–4 final 🚨 Great Game 1 for the squad 🙌🏻🙌🏻 We’re on to the Crusaders. #GOVIPERS #WEnotME #FAMILYONTHREE by @davedoherty1

26’-27’ Fantasy draft in the books. Didn’t get everyone in the picture but pretty much most of em.’ Probly won’t see a few of these guys again til next year, but it’s always a great day. We used to talk old stories from our glory days and about all the crazy times we had. Not anymore. Someone was comparing Wegmans and Market Basket’s sushi. I think all but one of us had some form of slip on shoes. We talked about how Italian subs shouldn’t have lettuce. We talked about height and weight and how in your mid forties you’re happy to “just maintain.” I was in mid conversation about Boars Head cracked pepper turkey when EJ finally snapped us all back to reality when he talked over everyone and asked “wait a minute what the hell are we talking about?? Is this what our life has come to ??” 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Good times! Excellent draft day gentleman. See you in the championship 🫡 by @davedoherty1

Down the Cape (home of the Aquafina in an aluminum can) 2026 😎. Some much needed time away well spent with family. Some an uncle Stevie time and even an early cake for his upcoming 50th 🤯. Great time had by all! Nice to see Jenny! Thanks Bobby and Suzanne for hosting by the pool and thankful we didn’t have to bail out Suzanne when they took all the gushers and fruit roll ups she bought the kids at wicked waves🤣. I always say, I was never an alcoholic. I was a bit of a binge drinker. Maybe it’s an Irish thing, I dunno. I just never had an off button I suppose. Thirteen years ago today right around now I had a Bud Light bottle in my hand (and likely one in front of me). I didn’t know it at the time, but that would turn out to be the last time. The next day August 1st 2013 I woke up hungover and realized I wasn’t gonna be a very good Dad if I didn’t change so I decided to hang up my drinking shoes. I remember feeling like a sober me could conquer the world. I also remember thinking I’d have all sorts of money once I quit beers and butts (another crappy habit I had). Thirteen years later I have yet to conquer anything and I feel like I’m more broke now than I’ve ever been. Despite all that I am proud every August 1st that I’ve made it another year, but my proudest accomplishment of all is being the best father I could possibly be all these years. Thinking of this guy today . A young and old B Doherty. One minute you’re enjoying a cold beverage out of a vintage Budweiser souvenir cup with a popped collar and a sweater that could kill and before you know it you’re wearing a hole in your favorite garage stool. It’s a beautiful day men, enjoy it. It’s what comes in-between these two photos that matters the most by @davedoherty1
