Last weekend I made the trip over to Columbus, OH to see @frayle_band and @eihwar.music at the A&R Music Bar. I'd wanted to see Frayle since the first time I heard their cover of Summertime Sadness but their show dates never worked with my schedule. I only learned of Eihwar because of this tour and am now completely hooked and their music has definitely found a place on my playlists! Both performances were well worth the drive. taken in A&R Music Bar by @davefancher

I've loved this style for so long but was never able to get quite the look I wanted whenever I tried. I recently learned a Photoshop technique that got me exactly what I've been wanting to do for years! Now I'm going back through my library and bringing new life to some of my images and reliving a ton of concert memories. Enjoy! by @davefancher

It was so great to finally see and meet @echosofficial! She's been on our "must see" list for quite a while so we jumped at the opportunity to make the trip to Detroit this past weekend. Her voice is so beautiful and it's even better in person! taken in Sanctuary Detroit by @davefancher

Anyone who knows me knows that the last several years have brought some significant emotional challenges, primarily starting with my mom's declining health and eventual loss to cancer, but also including a good friend passing, and other things. One of the biggest things that has helped me cope has been music, particularly the live music scene. Music has been an amazing outlet for me, but more importantly, it has brought more human connection to my life. Through live music, I've met numerous people that I now consider as friends and that's why I'm writing this, today.

@i.zzyreign is a darkpop/metalcore artist that found her way into my playlists around a year and a half ago. I can't remember which song played first, but I was instantly hooked. Since then, I've had the luxury of seeing her perform twice, including for her very first live show and chatting both in person and through her wonderful Discord community.

Independent artists of all kinds are fighting a new battle. For musicians, unfair streaming algorithms and AI-generated content are drowning out genuinely talented human creators like Izzy. It's hard enough for a musician to get any traction in the industry and new technologies built around stolen content aren't making it any easier. Couple that with lagging ticket sales and it gets even tougher.

Izzy launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the start of the next chapter of her music career: recording/promoting two new singles and a music video. It's her way of keeping her music independent and continuing to build a community where people feel welcome. (Seriously, her Discord is fantastic!) Kickstarter, is all-or-nothing so she won't receive anything unless she hits her funding goal. I'm backing this project as a thank-you for how her music and friendship has helped me through some rough spots. She's a genuinely talented artist, a great person, and I'm excited to help her push out some new music.

It's been 5 days since my rotator cuff repair surgery. I'm not in much pain (mostly dull aches) so I'm hopeful that's a good sign that healing is going well, but I honestly have no idea what I should be feeling at this point.

I'm still adapting a bit to life with a T-Rex arm but, for the most part, I'm not struggling to do most basic tasks with just one hand. Seat belts are the biggest challenge. by @davefancher
