SPINES
latex paint, textile ink, pigment, spray primers, foil and pen on canvas 2019
12” x 10” Never posted this as it was made to double as wall text in 2019 presentation of works from the series @sweetleafnyc. An impromptu alteration of an abstract painting to depiction of book spine that still lives only in my mind. …Well sort of since as of September there’s now a partial survey from this painting series in staple-bound publication I’m beyond happy with. @innenbooks - Aaron has a gift for creating a visual cadence, page to page, in his zines. Also knows when to boil things down too. As he brilliantly suggested using only the hand written text element from this painting for cover w/ INNEN imprint added in my hand. Format is slightly larger than innen’s standard zine size. It’s 9” x 6.5” Soon I may have them with a few appropriate retail spots or inbox me. #contemporarypainting #zine #contemporaryart #artistsbook #spines #bookspines #bookofnomonthclub #bookcollecter #bookcollectors #myspineisthebassline #culturevulture #jeandubuffetfanclub by @davemanilow

I’m sorry to have to pull the plug on what would have been a good time. I really wanted to show these newer cycles of works on paper. Pop-up install logistic was already tough. Large 80’s drawing needs repair work as it got damaged but I would’ve done that Saturday night too - but add crazy storm it’s too much crap. Maybe I can make something happen later in the Fall. Appreciate all you who continue to encourage me. Stay safe ❤️ by @davemanilow
