What happens when you take the man that people like @hanszimmer and @rickbeato1 describe as ‘the best guitarist alive’ and you get him to play Irish Trad Fusion with @darbytodd @dmurphy_music, Clare Hadwen and yours truly? MAGIC. Wait till you hear the solo that @guthrie.govan plays on this tune… it’s unlike anything I’ve ever heard. #irish #irishtraditionalmusic #irishtrad #composer #fusion #worldmusic taken in Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK by @davemarks

Here’s some Celtic rock to get your blood pumping!! There’s a real cast of stellar musicians on this track - and almost all starting with the letter D! @darbytodd on drums, @dmurphy_music on pipes and whistles, @donaloconnormusic on fiddle, @dario.cortese on mandolin, me @davemarks on bass & guitars, and then just to ruin our unbroken streak, @timbofilters on piano. Engineered by @jowebb and recorded at @uniofsurrey and Two Wolves Studios using @roswellproaudio and Cranbourne Audio gear. #celticmusic #irish #irishmusic #composer #recordingsession #uilleannpipes #fiddle taken in Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK by @davemarks

Managed to sneak in a quick trip to Dublin to watch @worldofhanszimmer courtesy of @davemarks

We’ve been working with Dave for a few years now but mostly with him working on our projects so we couldn’t wait to get down and see him doing his thing. Ridiculously talented, not only does Dave, compose, orchestrate and record, he’s a bloody great musician with an endless supply of joy and energy when he plays. I love to see musicians embodying their instrument and getting a kick out of this. Some need to really practice performing this like they have to practice scales but Dave just has it. A natural born performer who gets a thrill from the simplest to the most complicated of musical moments.

Not only was the show exceptional, (The Lion King section squeezed tears out of this stone) we couldn’t have been prouder to watch you up there.

If you get a chance to see this show on your travels, do it. You’ll also get to enjoy a bit of Dave magic to boot. by @davemarks

MEET THE BAND - DAVE MARKS - Bass, guitar, backing vocals.

I was born and raised in Belfast and started out, like quite a few of us did, playing electric guitar and bass in local bands before moving to London to study music.

Things escalated fairly quickly from there.

By 22 I was touring with prog-rock legend Carl Palmer and playing jazz-fusion gigs with arranger Richard Niles. Since then I’ve made a point of never staying in one musical box for very long.

Over the years I’ve worked with people including @robertplantofficial @hanszimmer Don Airey and Justin Hawkins, and these days I split my time between touring, composing for film and television, and writing orchestral arrangements.

I’m currently out on the road with The World of Hans Zimmer, working as bandleader with The Limitless Orchestra and playing with Simon McBride of @deeppurple_official

I play quite a few instruments, but bass is where you’ll mostly find me in British Rock Legends, and what a catalogue of incredible bass parts we have to choose from.

British rock gave us some truly individual bass players, players who didn’t just hold down the bottom end, but became a massive part of the identity of their bands.

So, bass fans…

John Entwistle, Chris Squire, John Paul Jones or someone else entirely. Who gets your vote? Answer I. The comments. See you at a BRL show very soon.

So excited that FROM ZIMMER TO STRAUSS is coming out October 2 across all platforms! 🎻🔥

The new audio release from @thelimitlessorchestra, with me, @ekaterinashelehova, and our musical patron @hanszimmer, released by @euroarts and @warnerclassical.

Here’s a little taste of the absolutely insane rap based on “Time” from Inception, featuring the one and only @davemarks. ⏱️🎤

Classical orchestra meets Zimmer meets rap. we decided that was a perfectly reasonable thing to do.

October 2. Everywhere. by @davemarks

Being pushed around is much easier when you’re programmed not to complain. 🤖

Here’s another glimpse of "AI Is AI", our piece exploring what happens when musicians become robots and follow every prompt, no matter how absurd.

Created by @igudesman with @josefsemeleder and @davemarks for @thelimitlessorchestra ensemble at the @schrammelklang festival, featuring @ugartedalina, @alionaviolakomar, @mikelancello_ and @duo.minerva.

It took a great deal of human effort, and absolutely no artificial enthusiasm, to bring it to life.
