Hey all, David here. I’ve been a music lover & musician my whole life, but it wasn’t until a few years ago when I started to collect records (circa 2014-2015) that I realized the gravity of the situation in which I, and the rest of us are all in. Not only will none of us be able to hear ALL the recorded music that exists, but in fact, you could listen to music 24 hours a day for 100 years & will only have heard a minuscule fraction of it before you croak. It would take you over 200,000 years to listen to “ALL” the music, though new stuff is coming out every day. When I heard that I was honestly pretty surprised & thought, “well shit I’d better get to work”.

My goal with this page is to catalogue and review some of the more compelling albums and musical works I have come across in my life, especially recently as being a record store clerk has exponentially increased my awareness of music and induced my exposure to some of the best records I have ever heard. I will note that as a 27 year old person born in 1995, I didn’t live through the most notable eras, evolutions, and stylings of jazz, or the golden age of records in general, which puts me at a disadvantage to a critic who has, when it comes to fully breaking down and understanding an album in its proper historical context. What I do have though, is an insatiable appetite for unheard music, a high standard for sense of musicality & style, rooted in music history & of course my opinion & personal experience which evolves day by day. Not to mention the passion and the time to give these records & music my full attention. They say that the best teachers are learners, so let’s learn a thing or two together and find some top tier tunes along way. taken in Van Gelder Studio by @davesfirerecords
